Aventura officially announces the long-awaited reunion tour.
The rumors are true – Aventura is coming back after a decade, and the band will start a concert tour in 2023. This Bachata group from the Bronx who rose to fame with tracks such as “Obsesión,” “Por Un Segundo,” and “El Malo” released it on their YouTube channel in December 2022. In the video, the band members, Romeo Santos, Henry Santos, Lenny Santos, and Max Santos showed the dates of the tour in September-October 2023.
Aventura originated in the Latin music sphere in the early 2000 and performed a combination of bachata and R&B. They became giants in the industry releasing albums such as We Broke the Rules and Love & Hate; the group toured the world performing in huge arenas. However, the band decided to split up in 2011 focusing on solo careers much to the disappointment of the fans. Speculations of the group reuniting began years ago but no concrete move was made until now.
In the tour announcement video, the current members of Aventura sat down to sign a contract for the 2023 tour. ‘This is to realize that this is official, certified, a done deal,’ Romeo Santos added. This new video announcing that they are officially back together and will be going on tour in 2023 and showed dates for Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Miami, Atlanta New York City, and so on.
Aventura was a successful band during their active years as was Romeo Santos when he went solo. His first release Formula, Vol. 1 produced the hit single ‘Promise’ with Usher. This made it a record-breaking album becoming the best-selling Latin album of the decade. The return of Aventura to the stage has been a long-awaited event by its fans for about a decade.
As Romeo Santos stated, their reunion tour has been in the works for quite some time. ”It has been rumored that we are going to have a reunion since 2016,” he said. The band is currently busy with rehearsals as they now have the dates of the tour in the pipeline. “We still have to go through many rehearsals to be able to prepare for the main event, ”stated Max Santos.
It’s like the fans are waiting for this moment with bated breath, based on their reception of the tour announcement on social media. Thus, the YouTube video that announced the news received more than two million views in less than two days. It was a trending topic on Twitter and fans could not wait to see the movie. ‘I CAN’T BREATHE, THIS IS NOT A DRILL,’ one fan account said. Some responded saying they had bought tickets or were willing to go across the country to see Aventura perform together again.
According to the industry gurus, the shows are likely to be sold out early, and potentially additional tour dates will be scheduled. “The fanbase is there, no question,” said Latin music journalist Lucas Villa. And when you factor in that it has been over 10 years, then you have the recipe for a monumental tour.
Before the digital era of the 2010s, Aventura reached international popularity. Therefore, their collection of albums and DVD live concert performances is a thing of rarity or near rarity. Their final performance in Puerto Rico has almost garnered over 90 million views on YouTube. People are crossing their fingers that these shows are going to be taped.
Thus, despite the limited information regarding the concert production, Romeo Santos guaranteed an unforgettable performance. “We’re going to have the wildest, most elaborate tour of our career,” he promised.
This group is very particular with the fact that they share both their personal and professional relationship as brothers tightly sealed. It has not always been easy to remain disciplined and grounded especially with all the perks that come along with fame. Henry Santos added: “As a band of brothers first, we committed long ago to each other which still stands no matter what. ”
However, the official tour announcement left out that Aventura might record new material and release an album in the future. But for now, the band’s primary goal is to work on improving the live shows and the song selection. This was said by Lenny Santos: “We can’t spill too much, but we’ve got a big one coming. ”
One thing is sure though – when Aventura performs again in concert come 2023, it will be a reunion that is long overdue for the band and their loyal fans.
