Bastille is an English indie pop band created in 2010 in London. The band is made up of Dan Smith as the lead vocalist, Kyle Simmons playing the keyboards, Will Farquarson on bass guitar and Chris Wood on drums. Bastille is most famous for their song “Pompeii” which was released in 2013 and came from their first studio album called Bad Blood.
They have just released details about their upcoming world tour, which is set to commence in April 2023. The band will also be performing a rigorous tour in support of their fourth studio album scheduled for release in February 2023. This tour will be the band’s first live performance since performing in 2022 in promotion of their 2021 album, Give Me The Future.
The tour is expected to begin on 17th April 2023 in Nashville, Tennessee, and then travel to other cities such as Houston, Dallas, Chicago, Detroit, Boston, and more. The North American segment concludes in mid-May with the final show scheduled for May 13 in Los Angeles.
When the North American leg of the tour is over, consisting of 25 shows, Bastille will go on the European leg of their tour starting on the 26th of May in Italy. The band will perform in Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, and more before some dates at UK festivals in June. It then goes to Spain, Portugal, and France before concluding the European segment of the tour on 15th July in Italy.
To date, more than 30 dates for the tour have been released in North America and Europe, with the probability of more being released soon as more legs are unveiled. Because Bastille has a different approach to the staging and the visual aspect of their concerts, these particular dates are sure to follow the same pattern and sell out almost immediately, which is quite common for the band. Audience members are advised to buy their tickets as soon as they are available on sale this Friday 18th November.
For those not knowing the energetic Bastille live concert, it is important to know that in their performances, the band does not only sing all of their many alt-pop hits but also uses elements of theatrical performances with costumes, various objects, pyrotechnics, and light show.
Dan Smith is known to change outfits that suit the different moods and topics of the setlist, which features new songs from the new album and older, recognized hits. He might come out dressed like some sort of post-apocalyptic warrior for the opening then shed the costume and suit up to become a mad scientist. In the latter part of the set, he could transform into a prisoner with bar stripes representing the tenet of performance and dancing that Bastille brings to their live performance.
The choreography of the stage and lights is also very intricate and can include such elements as giant skull microphones, burning furniture, and walls filled with hundreds of light bulbs that turn on and off to the beat of the music. There are moving video panels, smoke, confetti blasts, and many other tricks to highlight the best album tracks such as ‘World Gone Mad’ and ‘Happier. ’
It is well-suited with Bastille’s cinematic alt-pop music to entice your senses to offer the audio-visual show fans love to talk about again and again. Starting from the intimate club performances at the beginning of Bastille’s fame to present-day gigantic tours with tens of thousands of jumping and screaming fans – a Bastille concert is a unique experience of unity between performers and spectators. People are going to be able to belt their hearts out to massive choruses of their popular songs such as “Pompeii”, “Things We Lost in the Fire” and an array of songs from the new album.
Bastille has been steadily recording their fourth album over the last two years which is expected to be out in 2023 before the tour. Not much is currently known about the exact date of its release or the name of the album, but the band has mentioned that the new music focuses on topics such as doom-scrolling, self-medicated escapism, and searching for joy in the context of recent events in the world.
Dan Smith had this to say about the recording process “Throughout creating this album we’ve all allowed ourselves to be a little bit freer, a little bit looser, more bold and spontaneous. I think the result is some of the most interesting songs we’ve ever written. ” So one can probably expect new sounds and styles that see the band taking risks and evolving the alt-pop that Bastille first tried on Wild World, Doom Days and
The band has already teased bits of the new music, live performing an untitled song, “No Bad Days,” during some of the 2022 summer music festivals. It has lyrics of encouragement and motivation accompanied by a strong beat and a repeated chorus. From that preview, it seems like the new album will have some moments of light among the heavy themes.
Other working song titles that the band has sound-checked but not yet played include tracks such as ‘Stay Awake’, ‘Give Me The Future, and ‘Revolution’ signifying more societal advocacy and calls to wake up from society’s hypnosis.
Of course, with three preceding full-length albums and more mixtapes, EPs, and collaborations, Bastille has numerous favorite tracks in the alternative pop sphere to perform during the show as well. The audience can be sure to get the first few bars of “Pompeii” and probably a medley segment incorporating snippets of “Of The Night” and “Blame,” “Basket Case” or even “Durban Skies” depending on where the concert is happening.
It appears only appropriate that a band that fantastic combines various music sub-genres pop, rock, folktronica, electronic, hip hop, and even film score into their music would also start their round-the-world jaunt in Nashville or as it is fondly known as Music City.
Located in the southern part of the state in central Tennessee, Nashville is the capital city and largest city in the state although it is perhaps most famous for being country music’s prime location and the residence of the Grand Ole Opry show. Numerous recording studios, record companies, entertainment agencies, and many others make Nashville one of the most significant music industry centers in the United States, which is why it is dubbed Music City.
In recent decades, however, Nashville has diversified by opening up famous studios in Music Row and has started producing more versatile acts. The band is in the league of other bands like The Killers, Muse, Elton John, Doja Cat, Shawn Mendes, and The 1975 among others who perform other than country music gigs and indeed stamping the Nashville stages with their unique alternative pop rock music style.
The Bastille is expected to start the 2023 tour in Nashville on Monday, 17th April at the Andrew Jackson Hall in the Tennessee Performing Arts Center. This opening show together with the following three weeks of concerts in the US is likely to add an increased degree of importance to performing brand new songs right off the presses of their fourth album.
Then during the progression of the tour, Bastille will gradually introduce the favorite tracks and make changes to the side of the weighing of the crowd across the States and Europe. Those who are watching Bastille perform in Nashville for the opening night should be ready to listen to the new songs first before they can be performed again on other concerts of the world tour. Since tickets to their shows are usually sold out within no time, it is advised that one books their seats before new songs are released as a Bastille concert is something one should not afford to miss.
Taking into consideration that the band has received tremendous amounts of popularity after two consecutive number-one albums in the UK and more than 14 million listeners on Spotify alone, Bastille live performances are always highly demanded.
The tickets will go on general sale this Friday, November 18th for all the tour dates across North America and Europe, and it is believed that they will be sold very fast. Some past Bastille tours had dates offer out tickets immediately which is why fans are advised to buy tickets as early as they can before all tickets available in a certain concert venue have been sold.
Tickets for most of the concerts can be bought online through platforms such as Ticketmaster which is where the tickets for this tour will be sold. Those fans can view an interactive map of the seats at every venue, check out the pricing levels, whether seated or general admission pit access and book their spots as soon as 10 am local venue time starting from November 18th.
Additional tips for buying online include ensuring your Ticketmaster account is set up in advance, including your payment method, shipping address, and login information in preparation for the busy Friday morning. Get in just on the dot of 10 in the morning and out as soon as possible because the holds are only good for a couple of minutes before the seat is released for someone else to grab. Select e-tickets for the quickest delivery and convenience.
If tickets under an online sales category are sold out immediately after 10 am, do not despair because sometimes more tickets get uploaded for sale since the production holds that were earlier in place are now released. Therefore, do come back over the next few hours and days for another round of ticket sales. Simply try not to buy from the dubious scalper sites that sell tickets for more than their face value which might lead to being locked out of the venue.
There is sometimes also an opportunity to get the minute tickets when the inventory is usually released a few days before each show date especially maybe a week before the actual concert once stage arrangements have been prepared.
Besides online, some venues have their box offices selling the tickets they bought in bulk either through the Internet or directly at the door as another method to check. Since Bastille’s concerts’ concept is to make the band as close as possible to the fans, any of the ticket options should be good, whether one is sitting in the back row or dancing in the pit.
