    When Eras Tour Concert Film?

  • Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour is one of the most highly awaited concert tours of the past few years. It starts on March 17, 2023, in Glendale, Arizona, and features 52 performances in five months, concluding with two at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on August 4th and 5th. The Eras Tour will be a full setlist where Taylor performs songs from all 10 studio albums, which is why the show’s name refers to different eras of her music.

Audiences have been waiting on the edge of their seat if the Eras Tour itself would be captured and made into a concert movie. Taylor has a history of filming her tours, where she caused the filming of the Reputation stadium tour in 2018, which was later made into a Netflix concert film in 2019. The most recent one was her Reputation Tour which was also ensued in a concert film format and released on Disney+ last year 2022.

Therefore, it is only natural that fans known as Swifties are eagerly waiting for any news on the Eras Tour concert film. Oh well, the good news is we finally have confirmation that it will happen! During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on November 13, 2022, Taylor confirmed that the Eras Tour will be filmed for a movie. She did not disclose more about the release, such as which streaming platform may buy it or when exactly it will be out, but the main thing fans were waiting for – that there will indeed be an Eras Tour movie – has been said by Taylor herself.

Analyzing her history of releasing concert films, around one year after the tour dates, an assumption would place the Eras Tour concert movie in mid-2024. Her two latest concert movie releases were Reputation Tour which was released on Netflix in December 2021, four years after the real tour which began in May 2018 and ended in November of the same year. Her 2022 Disney+ film was of her Reputation Tour from 2018, so released four years later.

Eras Tour is set to wrap up in August 2023, so if Taylor sticks to tradition, then Spring to mid-2024 should be the date for the Eras Tour concert film. Another clue is the fact that she has rerecorded her first six albums to be used in the concert film without rights issues, and with her mindful rerecording release schedule, the last two Taylor’s Version – Speak Now and 1989 Taylor’s Versions are expected to be released sometime in 2023 as well. And, therefore, having the concert film out in 2024 would be in sync with the final project of the re-recordings.

Regarding which streaming platform will get the rights to the concert movie, now Taylor is friends with Amazon Studios and Disney so either will be the likely choice. Coming off her Emmy win for All Too Well: The Prime Video’s exclusive short Film and her two Disney + concert film/ music documentaries (folklore: Long Pond sessions, Reputation Tour) look like front runners. With that, she does also have a dedicated artist page on Hulu now as well, after becoming their most streamed artist in a single day, so Hulu joining the party is also very much plausible. Netflix hosted the Reputation Tour concert film, so she might prefer to grant the Eras Tour movie release to a different streaming service rather than overlapping.

Wherever it may be, fans or Swifties can be confident enough that the hundreds of hours of epic entertainment gold that will be derived from Taylor Swift’s record-breaking 2023 Eras Tour will be captured and etched in what is bound to be yet another spectacular concert film. While we may have to wait about a year for the official movie release after the Eras Tour, that would seem like a blink of an eye. After waiting years between tours, what is one more year when Swifties around the world know they have a complete career-spanning Taylor Swift concert film experience to eagerly await in 2024! The only question that arises here is which streaming platform will have the air rights to the Eras Tour concert movie – count on either Prime Video, Disney+, or perhaps some other completely unexpected streaming platform acquiring the rights instead of the two frontrunners. Wherever it may be, Swifties will rush to get there just to enjoy their Taylor Swift Eras Tour concert all over again!
