When Gin Blossoms Concert Tour?
The Gin Blossoms is an American rock music band which was started in the year 1987 in Tempe, Arizona. The band became popular in the early 1990s, with the hits “Hey Jealousy” and “Found Out About You”. They disbanded in 1997, but later reunited to record and tour to this day. The Gin Blossoms are one of the most iconic bands of the 1990s, which contributed to the emergence of the bright subgenre of alternative rock.
The Gin Blossoms are now in their fourth decade of existence and fans of the band might be wondering whether the group will perform live again through a concert tour. To the best of my knowledge, the Gin Blossoms do not have any concert lined up for the coming months. However, based on the group’s past and continued activity, it is expected that the band could kick start a tour in the course of the following year.
Gin Blossoms has been on tour in the past in 2018 where they went on a tour to commemorate their debut album New Miserable Experience that was released in 1992. This was a great tour that saw the group take through most parts of the United States and performing to audience’s greatest delight with their 90s hits. Since then, the Gin Blossoms have been making selective and occasional concert performances and music festivals up to 2019 and early 2020 before the COVID-19 pandemic halted live shows.
Last summer, as restrictions to the Covid-19 pandemic started to ease, many artists started to resume their tour activities with some level of flexibility and the Gin Blossoms also held several shows including in California as well as in Arizona. It comprised, shows such as, summer festivals, outdoor relevant major county fairs, which were suitable environments related to the health restrictions during the live performances then. The band was warmly welcomed by the fans and critics alike, which clearly showed that even at this stage, their brand of pop rock and their spirited on-stage presence maintains its ability to enthral the fans.
Based on the response elicited by those shows last year and the desire of music fans to attend live music events again after the disruption caused by the pandemic, everything appears to be set for the Gin Blossoms to get back on the road as they did before the pandemic in 2022. Despite such a scenario not being formal, long-time lovers of the Gin Blossoms are aware that the band has always embarked on random, last-minute tours over the course of the band’s existence.
Certain circles within the music industry are speculating that a possible Gin Blossoms tour could take place ideally from spring through summer of 2022. As it has been quite some time since the band has done a major tour on the roads perhaps the band will stick to the festival circuit as they did last year and release dates at various festivals over the summer months. The summer festival scene could definitely use the star power and fan enthusiasm generated by an alternative rock mainstay like Gin Blossoms.
Of course, any plans for a Gin Blossoms tour will be contingent with the dynamics of the pandemic and the willingness of audiences to attend packed concert venues in an enclosed hall. However, aside from another surge in disruptive events affecting entertainment occasions, industry analysts’ forecasts indicate a continuous enhancement of audience confidence and consumption of live concerts as they step into 2022 out of winter. Other band members of Gin Blossoms must also be feeling that energy built up in them as the band has not been performing much that in the past couple of years.
Whenever the Gin Blossoms finally decide to pull the trigger and go out on their next road show spectacular, fans will be greeted with sparkling guitar hooks and the earnest croon of Robin Wilson on such classics as Hey Jealousy, Found Out About You, Follow You Down, and Till I Hear From You. Mixed in could be some of the additional Gin Blossoms songs that have been released since the early nineties but are still familiar to the die-hard fans of the band. Of course when you have such a rich discography behind you the options for setlist are virtually limitless. One thing is however clear, the atmosphere will be that of California pop sunshine as the band performs their somber lyrics of love gained and lost.
The concerts are guaranteed to be fun filled vocal extravaganzas and this can be in an open air festival style or in a conventional concert style. This, in my opinion, is what a Gin Blossoms concert is all about – being able to take fans away from the stress and hustle of life for just one night and party to some good, old tunes. One can only hope that 2022 is the year in which the Gin Blossoms starts touring again and thus brings their magical tunes to the fans eager for good alt rock music. No matter where the road takes them next, the band understands that fans will be ready to follow anytime the Gin Blossoms are ready to play those classic songs.
