This year, Queen celebrated their 50th year and it is no surprise that they are up and running for another tour. It started in June 2022, is due to end in July 2023 and will cover the regions of Europe, North America, Oceania and Asia. The following is a breakdown of Queen’s current touring and future performances.
The Rhapsody Tour: 2022-2023
As part of their 50th anniversary, Queen has embarked on a world tour called The Rhapsody Tour, which started in Europe in June 2022, and more dates are planned for Europe in July 2022. The tour then proceeded to North America, starting from August through September 2022, and the Australasian leg from late September to early October. The Rhapsody Tour was continued after the summer break and included concerts in Europe starting from May 23, 2023, and ending in July 2023. The two new legs in Asia and the comeback to North America are anticipated to complete the 2023 schedule.
Other members include Brian May, who plays the guitar, and Roger Taylor, who plays the drums. The main vocalist is Adam Lambert. Lambert joined Queen’s touring lineup in 2014 and has been touring with the band ever since. He has a high-pitched voice and dances on stage, which reminds a little of Freddie Mercury but still manages to be unique. The Rhapsody Tour playlist features music from the entire Queen discography, from the early 70s up to the late 80s and everything in between. In addition to this list of main European shows, Queen is also lined up for some of the biggest festivals across the globe, including Austria’s Nova Rock Festival, Denmark’s Smukfest and Italy’s Firenze Rocks Festival. Additional shows in Asia and North America will then take place in late 2023.
On the Horizon
Considering the enthusiasm and audience response to The Rhapsody Tour, one can expect that after 2023 is over, there will be more tour dates for Queen and Adam Lambert. In the later interviews conducted with the founding members, they asserted that they had no intention of retiring from the band. “We’re definitely on a roll,” drummer Roger Taylor stated before the latest leg.
Guitarist Brian May has echoed Taylor’s sentiments: “I don’t know if this is the end, but it’s something I’ve been looking forward to. ” Queen has shown the capacity to perform and attract audience in arenas for five consecutive decades; therefore, it could be impossible to tell whether the band’s journey will not continue even after the golden jubilee celebration.
While the legendary musicians do not cease touring on the Rhapsody Tour, the fans, both young and old, will have numerous songs to sing along to the anthems, lose themselves in the solos, and enjoy the Queen magic. The current run in 2023 is planned through July 23rd at Madrid’s WiZINK Center Arena but other dates are possible.
