    When Is Tool Touring?

  • Tool touring in 2023: When to see Maynard and the gang live

Tool Tickets, an iconic alternative metal band, will embark on a new tour across North America in 2023. This beloved quartet, who made music for the likes of ‘Sober,’ ‘Schism,’ and ‘46 & 2,’ always delivered one hell of a live performance. People always look forward to seeing Maynard James Keenan perform the same vocals in concerts and the band’s brilliant playing as well. If you are looking forward to enjoying Tool Live, here is all the information we have about the 2023 tour.

New Album Equates For New Tour

Tool took its sweet time to release the fifth studio album, and it was only in the year 2019 that Fear Inoculum finally hit the market. This album was also one of the most successful in her career; it entered the Billboard 200 list in the first position and several hits originated from it. It was Tool’s first new album in over a decade. Of course, audiences wanted to hear these new songs in concert.

Tool promoted Fear Inoculum with a North American tour soon after its release. Their tour began in October 2019 and continued up to March 2020, when the coronavirus outbreak disrupted all live performances. They performed several make-up shows in 2022 but have not undertaken a tour for the Fear Inoculum album across America and Canada as a whole.

    2023 Tour Dates Announced

Right before the end of the year 2022, Tool revealed that they would embark on a new series of live performances scheduled for the spring to summer of 2023 as part of their Fear Inoculum Tour. Up to now, approximately thirty shows in North America have been announced, starting in April.

The tour is set to begin in Virginia and will include New York, Montreal, Toronto, Detroit, Chicago, Denver Los Angeles, Phoenix, Houston, Dallas, Tampa, Atlanta, and many more cities before concluding in Camden, NJ, by late July. The shows will be performed in arenas and large amphitheaters to accommodate the fans.

Of course, with Tool, things are never set in stone and are subject to change. However, other than these special instances, these tour dates are set in stone. Tickets have been available since December and most of the performances have been sold out. Just in case you wish to watch the show, it is recommended that you book your tickets as soon as possible since the other tickets tend to sell out very quickly.

    What to Expect

Anyone who has been a Tool fan for quite some time is aware of the fact that the band never disappoints when it comes to concert performances. Apart from performing career-spanning setlists, they also add impressive visuals and light shows in tandem with the music. Every show is an audio/visual explosion on the senses!

For the 2023 tour, fans should expect to hear a lot of Fear Inoculum songs since, until now, they were only able to sample a few of them live. However, certain songs such as ‘Sober’, ‘Stinkfist’, ‘Ænema’, and ‘Vicarious’ are bound to be included in this list as well. It is interesting to note that Tool’s set list is quite different from one show to another. You never know for certain what treasures or what nasties Maynard and crew may decide to let fly!

Tool is also known to incorporate rather complex staging and symbolism in the shows. The production value of all of this goes beyond a concert to more than that. It is a 2-hour-plus dip into Tool’s otherworldly aural domain. Well, tie your shoelaces and prepare yourself for a spiral!

    Any Special Guests?

The tool usually performs with unpredictable and rather innovative supporting bands. During the latest Fear Inoculum tour legs, they have invited some opening bands, such as Blonde Redhead, The Acid Helps, and Author & Punisher, on some dates. As for 2023, there are no official statements concerning the opening or supporting acts yet.

Whispers have emerged that Tool might take along other metal bands such as Primus or Mastodon on tour. If you did not know, Maynard James Keenan worked with Primus in the ‘Ozzfest Meets Knotfest’ tour back in 2017. Therefore, getting together again could be logical. To witness Tool and Mastodon touring together in certain venues would be a legendary line-up, in my opinion.

Of course, Maynard is the vocalist of A Perfect Circle and Puscifer bands when he is not in Tool. It would be special if APC or Puscifer were to open certain Tool shows next year. It's all speculation, though. Unfortunately, we will have to wait for Tool to release information on who might be playing the supporting roles later on.

Welcome to the Most Exciting Event of Your Life!

Tool on tour is always a fantastic time for the fans. These they display through their musicianship and showmanship, which remains unparalleled among all other musicians. Just how they can turn regular concert halls into somewhat surrealistic locations is simply magical. Danny Carey and Justin Chancellor are some of the best live drum-bass duos I have ever witnessed. And again, Maynard, as a voice actor acting like a single instrument in the band, feels even more powerful live.

Between the fear of previous shows being shortened and the expectation of new tracks from Fear Inoculum, Tool’s 2023 shows might be the band’s most historic. These dates can’t come soon enough for music lovers who have been starved of Tool’s unorthodox and heavily emotionalizing performance. Find out when they are on tour and plan to see them when they’ll be near you! Without a doubt, it will be one of the highlights of the 2023 live music scene.
