North America: Rapper Kevin Gates set the dates for a lengthy tour across the continent
The American rapper and singer Kevin Gates has revealed that he will embark on a massive concert tour across North America in June 2023. The Louisiana-based artist is touring the country following the release of his 2022 album, Khaza. This will be Gates’s first true concert tour since his release from prison in 2018.
The I Just Wanted To Fuck tour will feature more than 30 dates starting from June 1 in Cleveland, Ohio, and ending on August 12 in Los Angeles, Calif. Some of the major cities that are targeted are New York, Toronto, Chicago, Houston, Atlanta, Miami, and Denver among others. During the summer trek, Gates will be performing in a variety of venues including arenas, amphitheaters, and festivals.
In most cities, the rising rap star Nardo Wick has just been revealed as the opening act for Gates. Atlanta rapper Lil Baby will also open for the tour during some of its stops as well. The Latin flavor also hints at the fact that there will be a core base of trap music and street rap already set in the shows.
During the announcement of the extensive tour, Gates stated “That’s right, I’m ready to hit the road after a long time gone. My fans have been yearning for new music and live shows and now that Khaza is out it’s time to turn up all across the nation this summer starting from Cleveland and ending in LA. ”
Gates emerged in hip-hop through mixtapes such as Stranger Than Fiction and Luca Brasi 2 in 2013-2014. His raw street content, voice, and authenticity helped him become one of the most in-demand rap newcomers hailing from Baton Rouge. In 2014, he joined Atlantic Records as his career proceeded to grow.
The rapper’s first album for Atlantic Records, Islah, was released in 2016 and entered the Billboard 200 chart at number 2. With the help of the hit track “2 Phones”, the album was a commercial success and Kevin Gates was now a familiar face in the rap scene. But his career progression was cut short when he was sent to prison following gun charges in 2016.
Gates has not relent behind bars, he released two mixtapes and an extended play album between the years 2016 and 2018. People were looking forward to his new music after he was released from prison in early 2018.
