When Pixies Concert Tour?
The Pixies are an American rock band that began in Boston in 1986 and is an important influence on the contemporary indie rock movement. The initial formation of the band included Black Francis as the lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist Kim Deal, lead guitarist Joey Santiago, and David Lovering on drums. The Pixies have changed their lineup over the years but Black Francis and Joey Santiago have been a consistent factor.
The Pixies are considered to be one of the main influences behind the alternative and indie rock movements in the late 80s and early 90s. They are identified with loud-quiet-loud dynamics, the vocal style of Francis, and their experimental approach. Their hits include “Where Is My Mind?”, “Here Comes Your Man”, “Debaser”, and “Monkey Gone To Heaven”.
The Pixies, having split up in 1993 in acrimony, regrouped in 2004 for a concert tour that was fully booked in North America and Europe. Since then, they have maintained an active touring schedule throughout the past fifteen years or so. The nature of their touring has always been festival-based or single-show performances in North America, Europe, and occasionally Australia.
Upcoming Pixies Concert Tours
Pixies will be going on a worldwide tour from March to November 2023. This will be one of their largest tours in years, consisting of well over a dozen dates in both North and South America as well as in Europe.
North American Leg – March April 2023 The North American leg will commence on March 23rd in Montreal. These two will be traveling all over the United States and Canada and will be performing in big cities such as New York, Chicago, San Francisco, and Toronto. Some of the other prominent buildings in this part are the Chicago Theatre, The Met in Philadelphia, and the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. The North American part of the tour ends in mid-April with three shows at Brooklyn Steel in New York City.
Europe Leg – May June 2023 The Pixies will be on a short hiatus before they bring their tour to Europe beginning May 23rd. This leg of the tour has them crisscrossing the continent in five weeks, doing shows across the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and others. Some of the show highlights are two nights at the Roundhouse in London, Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam, Barcelona, and more.
Leg One: South America – August September 2023 In August the Pixies will be traveling to South America for a very extensive tour of the continent. Starting from Lima in Peru on the 18th of August, they shall tour through the South American cities of Chile, Argentina, and Brazil amongst others. Some of the notable shows on this leg are Estadio Teatro Caupolican in Santiago, Movistar Arena in Buenos Aires, and Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City.
North America Leg – Fall Schedule October November 2023 Following another five-song pause, the Pixies will come back to America for the third fall run that will primarily take place in the Eastern region of the country. The tour ends with a performance in the Chicago Theatre on the 18th of November.
Setlist Expectations As one can imagine, with it being such a vast world tour covering as many areas, audiences may be in for a treat with the band drawing from their repertoire that spans over 30 years of the Pixies. Of course, they’ll play the classics - “Where Is My Mind?”, “Here Comes Your Man”, “Wave of Mutilation”. But they will also pick songs from albums such as ‘Bossanova’, ‘Trompe Le Monde’ and the ones they recorded after the reunion. Similar to albums, it can also encompass covers and B-sides.
Regardless of what kind of songs are to be played, Pixies’ powerful, dynamic stage charisma will bring fun to audiences all around the world. Whereas their lyrics are as postmodern as the art that inspired them, the guitars are as strident as the message they were promoting. It will most certainly be a tour to remember.
How to Get Tickets If you want tickets for any of these upcoming Pixies concerts in 2023, there are a few options: First, during public on-sales, refer to the band’s website or subscribe to their mailing list for updates. This is where pre-sale opportunities are usually announced. Secondary ticketing marketplaces, including Ticketmaster, Tixbag, and LiveNation, will also offer tickets to the general public on sale. Add a reminder to your calendar of when the sales start to have a better chance of getting good seats. Also, check venue-specific box offices because they usually have allotments of tickets for sale personally.
