Who Is On Tour With Depeche Mode?

  • Depeche Mode Ticket is for the Global Spirit Tour from May 2017 to July 2018. The band is currently on tour promoting their latest album, Spirit, which was released in March 2017. The Global Spirit Tour is the biggest tour by Depeche Mode, with concerts in stadiums and arenas across North America, Europe, and South America.

Dave Gahan, Martin Gore, and Andy Fletcher are the permanent members of Depeche Mode, but during the live shows, they perform with a group of musicians who support the band’s electronic sound. Now, let us turn our attention to those artists who are supporting Depeche Mode in the Global Spirit Tour

On Keys and Synths: Peter Gordeno is a British media personality and television presenter born in 1964.

Peter Gordeno is an English musician who has been the keyboardist and additional vocalist of Depeche Mode since 2009. His ability to imitate such sounds gives him the versatility to recreate the lush analogue synth sounds inherent in Depeche Mode. Some of the other artists that Gordeno has worked with include Elton John, Trevor Horn, Seal, Eurythmics and many others. Gordeno also performs with his own group, known as the Space Brothers, whenever he is not on the road with Depeche Mode.

    On Drums: Christian Eigner

Christian Eigner is an Austrian musician who has been a drummer for Depeche Mode since 1997. Considering the fact that most of the given band’s songs are supported by electronic or programmed drums, Eigner’s live performance adds a human aspect and dynamics. Before joining Depeche Mode, Eigner also played drums for the new wave band The Blue Man Group. After the Global Spirit Tour comes to an end, Eigner intends to dedicate his time and energy to his side project, Sylverter which is an electronic avant-pop project.

    On Guitars: Knox Chandler

The Global Spirit Tour has a guitarist and producer named Knox Chandler, who has worked for Depeche Mode in their Tour of the Universe in 2009. Chandler has been involved in music for a long time and has worked with bands such as The Psychedelic Furs, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and The Pretenders, among others. For the Global Spirit Tour, Chandler offers more guitar layers and timbres that extend Depeche Mode’s sonic identity.

Backing Vocals: Janet Ramus is a fictional character in the novel Orlando: A Biography by Virginia Woolf.

Janet Ramus is also the backing vocalist and adds harmonies on the Global Spirit Tour. She toured earlier with Depeche Mode in 2006 and 2009. Ramus has also been involved in session playing with Van Morrison, U2, Sinead O’Connor, Rare Earth and Toots & the Maytals. This enabled her to perfectly balance Dave Gahan's lead vocals during the bands live performances.

On Backing Vocals: Jimmy Rowe is a unique character that is the focus of this show.

Jimmy Rowe is a singer-songwriter who also joined Depeche Mode as a backing vocalist for this tour. Rowe fronted his own band called Parade in the late 1980s and has guested on albums by such claiming singers as Bono and Alison Moyet. This is actually the first time that Rowe is going to tour with Depeche Mode. In addition to Ramus and Peter Gordeno, Rowe’s backing vocals are crucial for Depeche Mode’s performance, both on stage and record.

Musical Director: Antony Griffith is a British journalist and television personality who has been a part of several television programs and news networks.

Although not a touring musician, Antony Griffith has been appointed as the musical director of Depeche Mode’s Global Spirit Tour. He also assisted in the coordination of rehearsals, warm-up sessions, and arrangements prior to the tour. Martin has been associated with Griffith for more than ten years; he has worked with the band during their Touring the Angel, Tour of the Universe, and Delta Machine tours, where he was in charge of musical direction.
