Who Is On Tour With Duran Duran?

  • Duran Duran Tickets are now on a world tour running through early 2022 in support of the band's fifteenth album, Future Past, released in October 2021. Following a series of performances across North America in the past year, the British new wave legends are on tour across Europe starting from the current year up to July 2022, with the dates and the supporting acts announced.

By the time the Future Past Tour had come around, it was their largest tour in over a decade. The concert includes songs from all the band's discography and new material such as Invisible, Tonight United, and a song with Blur guitarist Graham Coxon, More Joy It has an elaborate stage design and grandiose visuals that accompany Duran Duran's pop rock songs and synch with the band's artistic themes and stage lighting.

It could appear that Duran Duran has had quite a few lineup changes over the past ten years, but the core three members of the band, Simon Le Bon, Nick Rhodes, and John Taylor, have regrouped. Beside the founding members coming back, the Future Past Tour also welcomes drummer Roger Taylor back into the band after about two decades since he left. In the words of Rhodes, after all members of the original band were reunited, the creativity began to flow again, the circle has been created, and it is time for the next chapter of Duran Duran.

With Dominic Brown, who has been with Duran Duran from as early as 1987 and other musicians such as Mike Garson on keyboards, Duran Duran has started a three-month tour across Europe up to June. Simon Le Bon says the concert will be incredible, emphasizing that with Graham Coxon, I've got a Duran Duran sound in my hands that I could not be more excited to perform live.

For instance, for this Duran Duran has incorporated several other artists from the various fields of music to perform during different segments of the tour. For the tour of the United Kingdom in April, Bastille, an indie band from Britain, started the series of gigs, for Scandinavian dates in April, Ludvig Gï½ransson, an English rock band; and for the Germany shows in June, there is Self Esteem.

In July, Duran Duran moves to Italy with another gigantic live outdoor stadium show in Verona with Australian pop star Kylie Minogue. The two singers first worked together in the 1980s when Kylie recorded her version of Duran Duran's The Reflex. Now, the two plan to perform in an actual pop heaven, "Verona,“ according to Le Bon. Other special guests on the tour include BRIT Award-winning DJ Erol Alkan and iconic disco musician Nile Rodgers, who co-wrote a song on the album Future Past.

The Future Past Tour is not only about the beautiful songs that Duran Duran has been releasing throughout the years and the videos are an essential part of the band's history that made them famous in MTV and made them part of music video history. As befits the event, director Alison Jackson, who has done impersonator portrait mimicries, is doing the concert films where the concert goers will be seeing them on giant screens. Katy Kafe, who worked with Duran Duran for 15 years, also comes onto the tour as a director to make the show come to life.

Aside from the music structures and multimedia experience, the band made sure that their live production play as a Future Past Tour is ecologically friendly to lessen the carbon imprint. The tour trucks use hydrotreated vegetable oil for their fuel, generators are run on renewable fuel, the backstage water bottles are made from plastic, and instead of flying, Crewe uses trains that are less carbon-intensive in Europe. As a part of an environmental partnership with REVERB, Duran Duran intends to promote a sustainable lifestyle across the tour.

In this sense, it is fitting that in over four decades of existing as a band, Duran Duran has firmly established themselves as pioneers of the new wave genre that still is unafraid to adapt their sound while staying true to themselves. The fact that the band has finally released Future Past, a new chapter of a massive world tour, demonstrates that Duran Duran are still one of the most captivating, timely, and innovative bands in pop music. Possessing the world's most outstanding new music, their timelessly classic defining catalogue of iconic tracks such as Rio, Girls on Film, and Hungry Like the Wolf, this stage extravaganza, a visually stunning theatrical concert, and special guest features, the Future Past Tour is a living testament to why their royal rule of pop music remains unchallenged to this day.
