Who Is On Tour With Red Hot Chili Peppers?

  • The Red Hot Chili Peppers Tickets are now touring again, and it is good to know that once again, the band has its A-list cast on board.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers just launched another extensive world tour following the release of their new album, called Unlimited Love, with the return of the former guitarist John Frusciante to the band after his departure in 2009. Even as usual, the Peppers have ensured that they include a list of impressive musicians and crew members to support their group as they perform their shows around the world.

Anticipating this are four original members of the band, namely Anthony Kiedis on vocals, Michael Peter Balzary, also known as Flea, Chad Smith on the drums and John Frusciante on the guitar. This lineup realized the album that many consider the pinnacle of the Red Hot Chili Peppers in 1991, Blood Sugar Sex Magik. It felt somewhat like a reunion already, in the best possible way, to have Frusciante back on board for this tour after years focusing on individual projects for everyone. His blistering guitar work and collaboration with Flea are, in essence, what defines the raw, edgy essence of the Chili Peppers.

Backing up the band and helping in additional instrumentation is the band's touring percussionist, Mauro Refosco, who has been with them for a long time. This Brazilian musician provides the group with exotic beating patterns and tones to the Peppers™ funk-rock soup. The keyboard tech as well as the background singer will also be provided by Chris Warren. But it's clear that since the Chili Peppers hits, Warren has been leading the high harmonies. Among the musicians who are joining the band on tour is guitarist/keyboardist Josh Klinghoffer, who had previously replaced Frusciante from 2009 to 2019. Klinghoffer was in the Pepers as a touring member and is now back to being part of the touring crew of the band. The abundance of talented musicians ensures that, for the most part, the band is able to capture the complicated multi-layered sound of their studio records live on stage.

The live sound production of the band is another crucial component, and Dave Rat has been the audio engineer for Pepper since the early 1990s. Rat has a godlike touch when it comes to the mix, ensuring that the band is powerful and crystal clear and that the dynamics of the guitars, bass, drums, and vocals are well balanced. They are accompanied by capable monitor engineers, rig technicians, and backline crew. The band's esteemed lighting designer, Alan MacMillan, offers a mind-blowing display of vibrant color schemes.

On the business side, longtime manager Guy Oseary, who is not only an experienced musician but also a successful businessman, keeps the organization of Pepper's band in perfect order. Tour manager Michael Morris also secures their high-paying festival slots and oversees their tours. And there is always a big group of road crew who work for stage build, drums, guitar, bass, merchandising, and more.

However, when you go to a stadium show, you will find that the bands that open for the main show are usually selected by the main performer. The Chili Peppers usually invite other rising bands that have generated a lot of hype so that they can open for them, and this is what Chili Peppers have done with this tour. Before showcasing the concert, two up-and-coming alt-rock bands perform: The Warning from Detroit and King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard from Australia. The Warning is comprised of three sisters who became famous for performing songs by Peppers on YouTube. Well now they have the chance to warm up the stage for their heroes each evening. And King Gizzard, with their intense psychedelic rock numbers, serve as a good warmup act as well.

There is an advance team that works on how the show will proceed before its arrival in every city. The tour manager liaises with the local authorities of the venue and suppliers, although a production manager erects the stage, the barricade, screens, and lighting fixtures prior to the event's schedule. Promoters make use of radio, TV, posters, and social networks to announce the concert. On the show day, the local crew and union stagehands help out with getting ready for the show.

In every episode, there is always a lot going on behind the camera once the show is on air. Catering services are provided by the hospitality staff, and they ensure that the artists and the crew are provided meals and refreshments throughout the event. [Makeup/wardrobe] ensure that the Peppers, who are the subjects of the show, are well-presented for television. Security personnel patrol the premises to control access to sensitive areas and provide protection to the elites. This is because while the event is in progress, both EMTs are on stand-by in the event that there are any injuries, while the police are also closely overseeing the movement of the crowd. Other backstage or off-camera helpers include drivers, caterers, photographers and videographers, runners, and many others.

If you consider all the bands walking about on stage, the sound men and women, technicians, pyro and lighting personnel, security and the police forces, the promoters, the local crew and the venue staff, it will take almost a hundred people to stage a full Chili Peppers concert. Many of those dates are within the next few days, and several more are scheduled within the next few weeks, so this will become the new normal for quite some time. Due to the hard work of many professionals striving to create an epic live performances of Give It Away, Under The Bridge, Californication, and others, fans are able to enjoy concerts all around the globe. Despite what the name suggests, Anthony Kiedis is not the star of the show; he has a vast number of supporting musicians that far surpass the four mentioned. In such many years of travelling around the globe the Red Hot Chili Peppers remain to employ only the best of the best.
