Who Is On Tour With The Cure?

  • The Cure finally announced their tour in 2022, which includes some thrilling opening acts.

British cult-rock musicians The Cure Tickets have just revealed a hefty 44-show North American tour scheduled for 2022, marking their first live dates since 2018. The tour will be an exciting one for the band's fans, who have enjoyed hits such as Just Like Heaven, Boys Don't Cry, and Friday I'm In Love. Other bands that will accompany The Cure on a tour are some of the best and most promising indie bands, so the tour will be definitely worth the attention of fans of quality music at every venue.

Despite their age, The Cure proves themselves as headliners of one of the summer's most anticipated tours, playing music of passion, darkness, and longing for four decades. Emerging from the post-punk movement in the latter half of the 1970s, The Cure have undergone many changes in their personnel and sound over the course of their career."From gothic pioneers to dance-rock sensations, they are led by the dour but charismatic singer Robert Smith, whose androgynous appearance"—long dark hair, pale skin, and red lipstick"—was highly influential in the early days of the goth subculture They've been able to reinvent their music in the course of fourteen studio albums yet retain the core elements of what defines The Cure. audience would be able to listen to hit sets that may contain all the songs that made them popular as well as a few uncommon songs throughout their entire musical journey.

And the bands with which they go on tour on are not bad themselves...

    The Twilight Sad

Originally from Kilsyth, Scotland, The Twilight Sad emerged from the same Scottish post-rock scene that gave us such bands as Mogwai, Frightened Rabbit or We Were Promised Jetpacks that initially found success in mid-2000s. The jangly guitars, powerful drums, and the profound Scottish accent of James Graham make The Twilight Sad a passionately intense band, which perfectly matches The Cure's deep melancholy. Fortunately for the band, some of this early material was later reissued and the band recorded their critically acclaimed latest album released this year, titled 2022's How To Measure Distance. The Twilight Sad has been opening for Smith as his backing band during some of his solo shows in the recent years so this specific opening also makes a lot of sense as a logical continuation of that arrangement.

    Thursday

Thursday was formed in the late 90s/early 2000s in New Jersey; other bands of the punk and hardcore genres that emerged at the same time are My Chemical Romance and Senses Fail. But while Thursday had poetic lyrics and intricate arrangements, the band showed more potential in avoiding hardcore cliches and aiming higher with its sound earlier on. Their debut album of 2001, Full Collapse, is accepted as an album that started the post-hardcore movement of the early 2000s. Thursday officially dissolved in 2011, but the band regrouped in 2016 and has released more energetic, confrontational but introspective music, as on their most recent release, Jersey Cousins. The fact that The Cure is open for them means that there will be enough of this aggression in the tour.

    Anna von Hausswolff

The only opening act of The Cure is a singer with art pop music that has gothic influences, which gives more colors to the concerts. The Wolter is a Swedish singer, songwriter, and organist who composes her music with her powerful vocals accompanied by the organs, horns, and synthesizers. She comes from an aristocratic background and raised in a castle in Sweden, She has choirs influences with touches of medieval and liturgical. Since 2010, she has released five albums and her latest album, Live at Montreux Jazz Festival, released in the year 2022, can give a feel of her hypnotizing live performances that should impress The Cure's audiences.

Though Robert Smith has not disclosed whether The Cure is preparing for the release of the much-awaited album in the near future, the core band group line-up for these tours and concerts include drummer Jason Cooper, bass guitarist Simon Gallup, and keyboardist Roger O'Donnell, alongside Smith as the lead vocalist and guitarist. The venues consist of Madison Square Garden in New York, United Center in Chicago, Moody Center in Austin, Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, and all other arenas and amphitheaters across North America in the summer and Fall.

Currently, The Cure is set to perform in 2022 and the shows are often sold out so it might be a challenge to get your hands on the tickets. However, those who buy tickets with the band performing can look forward to long 3-4 hours performances from the Rock Hall inductees, while the band ensures that no two performances are the same. In addition to this, the three different types of music from the supporting acts originating from different countries and genres, such as Scotland's dark indie rock and Sweden's other-worldly avant-pop, among other genres, make this tour exceptionally well-chosen; it is a tour that fans will remember for a long time. The world's favorite rock band, Catch The Cure and their guests will be performing in your town this summer.
