Irish singer, composer, and musician Enya has a classic atmospheric quality combining folk elements, Celtic, classical, church, and Celtic sounds. Having debuted with her popular hit song "Orinoco Flow" and her Watermark album in the late 1980s, Enya has developed to be among the most successful-selling musicians. Over her four-decade-long career, she has traveled extensively and captivated the globe with outstanding live performances.
Enya largely made her first two albums in a studio; she first went on tour to support Shepherd Moons just in 1991. Enya has just attended a few live events and TV shows before then. Still, Shepherd Moons was followed by the unheard-of popularity of the singles "Caribbean Blue" and "Book of Days," which gave Enya the confidence needed to tour and perform more shows. Her first significant worldwide trip, spanning Europe, North America, and Japan, her 1991–1992 World Tour helped to publicize the record. The shows were a hit, letting viewers welcome Enya's ethereal music.
Seven more years passed before Enya would travel once more in promotion of the multi-platinum-selling 1997 Paint the Sky with Stars: The Best of Enya. It comprised two fresh works, "Paint the Sky with Stars" and "Only If...." Comprising events in countries like London, Paris, Amsterdam, Los Angeles, and New York, the Paint the Sky with Stars Tour traveled Europe and North America. Enya's tiny choir and string group accompanied her for this performance, enhancing the live performance's ambiance.
Following the album A Day Without Rain in 2000, which has the Grammy award-winning single “Only Time,” Enya went on the A Day Without Rain Tour from 2001-2002. It was a global record, it was released in North America, Europe, and Asia in 16 months. The Asian leg featured performances in China, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand. The set list also included some new songs from the album as well as Enya’s biggest hits including “Book of Days”, “Anywhere Is,” and “Orinoco Flow”. The concerts featured awesome light shows and magnificent visuals to enhance the acclaim of the singers.
The next album from Enya was the platinum-selling album Amarantine which was released in 2005. For this release, Enya won her fourth consecutive Grammy for the Best New Age Album. The following year in 2006, there was the Amarantine Tour that saw her perform all over Europe, North America, and Japan within six months to market the release. Some of the songs performed were the first single from the album released in Japan, “Amarantine,” and songs like “Watermark,” and “Caribbean Blue. ” The New York Times applauded the show with phrases like “mysterious, new age-style transcendence. ”
This was not until 2015 when Enya began her most current tour of Dark Sky Island which was named after her album of the same name. This was the first album that she released in seven years and also her first tour in the past nine years. The European and North American tour had Enya perform songs from the new album such as “Echoes in Rain” and “So I Could Find My Way” in her usual mystic manner. The legendary Irish singer, who celebrates her 65th birthday, once again demonstrated that her voice extends far beyond millions of people.
When will Enya perform live again? It has been over seven years since she last performed, however, the fans who have been with her since the start should not be disappointed. The eccentric pop star is well known for long stints between albums and concerts. To date, Enya has sold more than 75 million records worldwide, numerous singles, and albums such as Watermark, Shepherd Moons, The Memory of Trees, A Day Without Rain, and Amarantine that fill concert halls with fans – and she still has no shortage of beautiful, evocative songs to perform live in the future. By considering the previous record of Enya’s world tour where she has been touring every seven to nine years, one can assume that she might announce another world tour somewhere around 2024 or 2025. Whenever the next Enya tour takes place, there is no doubt that her unique otherworldly voice will again enthrall one hall after another in a concert that can only be described for the ages. Her concerts are not to be missed and hence when that next tour comes, ensure one book for it early enough since most of them tend to go like a bat out of hell in anticipation of the legendary Enya singing on stage.
