Originating in Bakersfield, California, American nu-metal band Korn debuted in 1993. Among the bands that were somewhat well-known in the late 1990s, Limp Bizkit is seen as the forerunner of the nu-metal sub-genre. Korn credits 13 studio albums, 2 live albums, 2 compilation albums, and 39 singles. Worldwide, they have sold about forty million records.
Most of 2020 saw live events suspended due to the COVID-19 epidemic; Korn returned on a co-headlining tour with Staind in 2021. Starting in West Palm Beach, Florida, the tour ran until September 21st in Reno, Nevada. The band toured 26 shows in amphitheaters and arenas all throughout the United States.
The band stunned their supporters at the start of 2022 by disclosing details about their new album, which was meant to be the immediate follow-up to The Nothing record published in 2019. Released February 4, 2022, their 14th studio album is Requiem. The first track the band put out on January 14th is titled "Start the Healing." Along with Chevelle and Code Orange, which will last most of 2022, Korn is embarking on a big North American tour to help promote Requiem.
Starting in Springfield, Missouri, the Requiem tour began on March 4, 2022. Following a month of travel across the country, Korn proceeded to Europe for headlining events as well as summer festival appearances. In mid-August they returned to the United States to finish their headline tour of American and Canadian venues. Their current Requiem tour is scheduled to finish in Sacramento on October 10.
Over told, Korn's 2022 North American branch consists of 37 gigs spread over seven weeks. Then, in June and July, they traveled abroad for yet another two dozen performances throughout Europe and the United Kingdom. Korn intends to tour North America in late summer/early autumn, covering around thirty events from the middle of August to early October. Apart from their main performances, Korn is scheduled to participate in other major rock events in 2022. These include their trip back to Germany for the Rock Am Ring on June 3rd and Rock Im Park on June 5th as well as Welcome to Rockville in Daytona Beach on November 12.
Plans for an arena tour in Australia and New Zealand in the autumn have also just surfaced. October 20th in Perth marks this Down Under trip, which ends on November 10th in Brisbane. Two openers for the Australian performances are Megadeth and Vended, a new band including Griffin Taylor, son of David Silveria, former drummer of Korn.
Korn is continuing to aggressively promote Requiem while other festival events—or tour dates for next year—are yet to be confirmed. Thirty years after their initial performance, the first and most important nu-metal band from Bakersfield is still a powerful live performer and regular headliner of worldwide rock events.
