Motley Crue recently just released the new tour dates for the band after they briefly retired from the music industry.
Since they are quite famous, Motley Crue decided to go on the Final Tour back in 2014, which was quite unexpected. Despite over thirty years of touring, the infamous glam metal band decided to part ways and retire in an attempt to leave the fans with great memories instead of gradually declining and disappointing the audience. The crass Final Tour was full of enthusiastic audiences and crowded stadiums and arenas as people flocked to have one more drunken, scandalous time with Motley Crue.
As of now, five years after The Final Tour Motley Crue have stated that they are to reunite in 2020 for a world tour. This news has many fans, known as Crueheads, thrilled to see Tommy Lee, Mick Mars, Vince Neil and Nikki Sixx back in action. The appropriately named Stadium Tour will also include other 1980s icons such as Def Leppard, Poison and Joan Jett.
Hopes were raised for Motley Crue’s reunion when the band regrouped to create four tracks for their biographical movie The Dirt. As passionate fans reacted positively to these first new Crue tunes in years, it looked like the bad boys of the Sunset Strip missed touring too much to call it a day.
The Stadium Tour begins July 7th, 2020, at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium and progresses throughout North America. Some other well-known tour destinations include Detroit, Toronto, Dallas, San Francisco, and a lot more. The performance that many fans have looked forward to is on August 5 at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. Quite fittingly, where better for Motley Crue to return the theatrical over the top spectacle that was part of their live shows? The massive 38 show tour is still on, and the band is expected to conclude the tour on September 5th, in Arizona.
In their last tour the members of Motley Crue inked what is known as the Cessation of Touring Agreement which would not allow the band to tour again as Motley Crue. But this new deal with Def Leppard motivated the group to look for a legal way to bypass this contract completely.
Motley Crue’s long-time manager Allen Kovack said, “When I came to the band — as I think millions of fans worldwide said ‘I’ve seem the show and read the book now I want to see the band’… Once the word was out, I got in touch with Live Nation and the tour was quickly arranged and set for this huge scope for the band. ”
Three powerhouse rock bands and Joan Jett and the stadium tour is already expecting to be one of the biggest ticket sellers for 2020. This is the first time Def Leppard and Motley Crue will be performing in the US as a package tour. The difference in tones, as well as listeners, will come together for some memorable gigs in honoring rock n’ roll as it is. Poison will bring the raucous partying that they are infamous for on songs such as talk Dirty to Me and Nothing But a Good Time. The always charismatic Joan Jett will for sure start each show by lighting the stage on fire with anthems like I Love Rock N Roll and Bad Reputation.
Regarding the Motley Crue reunion, Nikki Sixx states “It’s on! We don’t know much yet, and won’t know more until Monday but I’m quite sure we are still going to bring the chaos and play stadiums More updates on Monday. ” He definitely left the anticipation that a big thing is coming for production with Motley Crue back together to perform all of their greatest hits from Girls, Girls, Girls to Dr Feelgood and Home Sweet Home. Sixx is the brain behind the Crue’s rebellious persona and out-of-control shows with fire blowing pyrotechnics.
Tickets to the much hyped tour are available to the public as from Friday December 13th just in time for the Yuletide season. Loyal fans of Motley Crue should prepare themselves for ticket sales to be snapped up within a short span due to this hype up. If you do not get a ticket, then make sure to revisit these ticket resale sites frequently because the best seats will probably become available closer to the event date. This will most certainly be one of if not the most popular rock tour in the year 2020.
Tour promoter and CEO of Live Nation Global Touring Arthur Fogel described it as “When it comes to absolutely epic world class shows these four bands collectively have it all… a non-stop hit parade of their respective catalogues. When you see the spectacles they put on it’s really second to none. This is the type of tour that no one wants to miss, and the tickets will be selling out quick”. Going by the popularity of the artistes on this line up, one could not have said it better.
As part of promotion for the upcoming tour, the 2014 biography The Dirt has been turned into a movie based on the over the top shenanigans of Motley Crue. Currently it occupies the first place in the global trends, the film ‘The Dirt’ brought the music and the shenanigans of the legendary group to a new generation. What better way to keep the renewed Motley Crue buzz going by announcing their long-rumored reunion?
Motley Crue are also providing fan bundles which includes a prime reserved seat along with special merchandise and the chance to meet the band before the show for the Stadium Tour. Mick Mars wrote on Instagram: “I forgot what it was like to be a rock star But it all came back pretty f*cking quickly. ” If the statement of Mars is any indication, fans should ready themselves for some wild behavior from Motley Crue the same as it was in the past despite no touring for a number of years.
The Crue claim to stay true to their roots and still have the rebellious attitude they had when they formed the band in 1981. But let me assure you, they are no longer naive and innocent they are older now. Guitarist Mick Mars has a severe back problem called ankylosing spondalitis and singer Vince Neil lost his young daughter to cancer in 1995. These band mates, however, have been through their fair share of tragedies over the decades. Going back on the road again is not only the fans desire but could be highly beneficial for the creative souls and mind of the group.
Excerpt from the official Stadium Tour announcement made on Motley Crue’s website and social media profiles: “Our careers have been too short to end now. ” Few bands are in a position to step away from touring for a few years then return to the scene and sound as energetic and vital as before. But Motley Crue were never just any band. Right up until the end of their final tour they were dominating at the number one position on Boxscores Top Tours, which is a testament to the band’s longevity and success.
The Crue always stated that they are going to go out while still at the pinnacle. Now, let me recall what the bassist Nikki Sixx stated back in 2015: “we can’t continue forward, it is better to stop when the whole world is urging you to go on”. Well now in 2020, the world needs Motley Crue badly enough that the band is willing to go back on their alleged promise of never touring again. Is that not the love this band has for its fans and vice versa in a nutshell?
Perhaps time has done something to tone down the wild rock bands of the era but it certainly will not be in evidence during their next concerts. Expect Motley Crue to show they have not lost any touch in where they are most comfortable – on stage, with an outrageously fun concert. Get ready for great fireworks, Tommy Lee’s wild spinning drum platform and all the depravity that is always associated with a Crue live performance. Some of the most popular stunts in the previous tours have been Vince Neil being launched over the audience on top of a grand piano and Nikki Sixx performing the ‘Flaming Bass Guitar’ during Shout at the Devil. One thing is for sure – we are all in for a treat when Motley Crue takes The Stadium Tour to your town!
