Rising to popularity in the late 1990s and early 2000s, NSYNC developed over the 1990s and sold over 70 million records worldwide. Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Chris Kirkpatrick, Joey Fatone, and Lance Bass joined the band in 1996 and became well-known very fast. Their concert tours were enormous events drawing thousands of people screaming and supporting their stars.
First started their tour in 1998, the year following their debut and eponymous album release. Originally opening Janet Jackson's Velvet Rope Tour, they started across North America. This gave NSYNC much more exposure right in front of Jackson's big crowds. Their public gained from their superb dances and such tunes as "Tearin' Up My Heart" aided.
It is interesting to note that NSYNC burst in 1999. Their second album, No Strings Attached, was a huge success; 2. 4 million copies sold in its first week. As "Bye Bye Bye" and "It's Gonna Be Me" were successful, the band started their first solo headlining tour. Starting in North America in the summer of 1999, the NSYNC In Concert tour ran 49 dates. The gigs were booked in minutes; most cities added second, third, fourth, and more dates to their calendar. Audiences enjoyed their flawless dancing, outfit changes, and ideal pop trajectory.
Later in 2000, NSYNC went on tour and showcased their talents in various parts of the globe. Their PopOdyssey Tour became their most ambitious one and it covered several cities in Europe and Asia. They even sold out the big establishments such as Madison Square Garden upon their tours back home. Their last concert of the North American part was performed in Detroit and was aired live on HBO. Some of the classic moments included the band performing in astronaut suits that were lowered from the ceiling, the dance, and the singers performing in acoustic sets on platforms that rose from the floor.
After PopOdyssey, all the band members thought it was best to take a hiatus and engage in side projects. However, the glamour of a return to live performing drew them back together for the 2002 show, Celebrity Tour. While set up around Justin Timberlake’s growing solo career, the show was an enormous success nonetheless. The tour was the development of the band with sharper movements and the stage setup with individual creative stages for each member. The mature dynamic according to many critics, took NSYNC from just a mere boy band to actual performers.
NSYNC then released Celebrity Tour where the group went on an indefinite break so that Timberlake could continue with his solo career. But in one of the sweetest concert comebacks ever, the guys popped in to perform with him during his MTV Video Music Awards show in 2013. Lance Bass and JC Chasez, in particular, who had remained out of the spotlight for years after NSYNC disbanded, performing right on the VMA stage, singing some of their popular tracks like ‘Girlfriend’ and ‘Bye Bye Bye. ’ It sparked interest in a reunion tour but aside from the occasional appearance here and there, the fans have not been given a full-fledged NSYNC concert ever since.
Undoubtedly, NSYNC was one of the biggest names of the late 90s through early 2000s when it came to amazing dance choreography, perfectly synchronized colorful costumes, powerful vocals, and hits. These were fancy live musical performances that were big and slick and very visually appealing down to the last element. For the thousands of screaming fans who were privileged to watch the guys during their heyday, their tours were splendid performances by one of the most gifted and popular boy bands of all time. Even though the members have shifted their focus in different directions, their concert tours are always memorable for a generation that was raised with NSYNC tunes. In case the guys were to come together ever in a group for a reunion tour, am sure it has to be one of the most sought-after concerts of all time.
