Buddy Guy 2023 Concert Tour
Beginning his concert tour in 2023 in the United States and Canada, blues guitarist and vocalist Buddy Guy—who is acknowledged for nearly single-handedly placing Chicago on the map of the international music scene in the 1980s—has launched Although Buddy is 86 years old today, he still shows great vitality and enthusiasm in performances. His strong voice and heavy metal guitar approach define him; he also performs his compositions and rework of well-known blues tunes.
Buddy's first headline performance of that year, the tour began on January 27 at Tennessee Theatre in Knoxville, Tennessee. With the set selection spanning his whole life, he and his band were pounding the crowded auditorium with Buddy Holly. Along with honoring his teachers, Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker, he also sang some of his songs, including "Damn Right, I've Got the Blues," and "Stone Crazy." Buddy will also be playing several nights at a venue known as Buddy Guy’s Legends which is a blues club located in Chicago which is a city that Buddy has been residing in for more than 6 decades.
During April, May, and June, Buddy takes his tour to both the coasts of the United States of America. Some prominent performances include the shows at Fox Theater in Detroit, Xcite Center at Parx Casino in Pennsylvania, and the Bergen Performing Arts Center in New Jersey. Buddy also has three giant concerts scheduled in the Beacon Theatre New York City. In the west coastal region, the tour takes the participants to the Fillmore in San Francisco, the Paramount Theater in Seattle, and the Ace Hotel in Los Angeles.
Buddy Guy is currently on tour in the US and continues to tour Canada in July of the following year, 2023. Some of the performances are at the Massey Hall in Toronto, the Ottawa Bluesfest music festival, and Place des Arts in Montreal. There are more dates lined up for the US in August before the tour ends in the early part of September.

The first reviews of Buddy Guy concerts in 2023 have been mostly positive. Some of the critics have complimented Buddy for his energetic performance, which they said he had so much energy on stage and his age does not in any way affect the energy he displays on stage. In his review for the Knoxville News Sentinel after the January 27th opener, Bob Leggett said, “Guy slashed at the strings of his polka dot Fender Stratocaster, playing as if he were still thirty years old, clearly stressed and making faces as he ripped through notes. "

Guy, according to Jon Bream of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, is still a showman par excellence who can involve the audience with his banter, his extraordinary guitar skills, and his funny faces.
