Originally consisting of David Lowery on vocals and Johnny Hickman on guitar, American rock band Cracker first started in 1991. It started in Redlands, California in 1991 and became well-known after their 1992 first album "Cracker" came out. Cracker is behind singles like "Low" and "Teen Angst (What the World Needs Now)," which appear on the group's platinum-selling 1993 album "Kerosene Hat." With nine studio albums to credit, Cracker has been performing live and recording songs. In 2014 the band's final studio album, "Berkeley to Bakersfield," came out.
Since no information on Cracker's intended concert tour in 2023 has been leaked, it is still unknown at the time. Fans could, however, be able to predict the tour in line with the publication of a new album or compilation CD. Cracker usually performs in tiny theaters and clubs across the United States and Europe. Since the group's founding approximately thirty years ago, they have been playing and traveling almost annually. Therefore, it would not be shocking if David Lowery is preparing for yet another round of the Cracker tour dates not far off.
Cracker maintained a steady traveling schedule in the previous few years before the COVID-19 epidemic halted concerts and live music events. They staged both festival events and club performances, typically with big crowds. For example, back in 2018 Cracker performed about forty shows throughout the country. Among the venues listed are Boston, Atlanta, New York, and City Winery in Nashville. They also played that year at musical events like the Boogie on the Bricks in Brunswick Georgia and the Bragg Jam in Macon Georgia.
The band’s last major touring stint was in the summer of 2019. That run of shows had Cracker perform at multi-night stands in Solana Beach in California and Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania. They also got to play at bigger outdoor events such as the Pickathon in Oregon and the Great Blue Heron Music Festival in Pennsylvania. The shows performed in 2019 generally got the nod from the fans. And therefore one could reasonably expect the band to embark on another headlining tour sometime within the next year or so.
What this means is that Cracker appreciates the need to go on tour as often as possible since they are veterans on the road. Touring around the United States and abroad to perform for fans has always been an essential part of the band’s plan. They can tour to have a look at new material and also to ensure that their songs do not become repetitive. This also helps Cracker to reach his fans whom he has lost touch with or those who have never been his fans. Furthermore, merchandising during concerts continues to be an essential source of income for bands in the age of streaming. In that case, even if Cracker does not have another album in the works, fans should be able to look forward to some form of concert tour in the coming year or the following year.
At this time there is no information as to when and where Cracker might go on tour in the future months. David Lowery and Johnny Hickman do have a couple of other musical projects that are still active which might be more important. Lowery also works on his music and has Camper Van Beethoven, who released a new album in 2022. On the other hand, Hickman may sometimes perform with a Johnny Hickman and the band. However, as has been mentioned, Cracker has been a very steady live, touring band since the formation of the group over three decades ago. Therefore, scheduling a club or theater tour is the next logical step, given their extensive discography of alt-rock gems.
The tour schedule can be expected to be first posted at the band’s official website crackerband. com. For more about Cracker’s touring, fans can also follow David Lowery on Twitter and Johnny Hickman on Instagram. Since they are veterans of the indie touring circuit, they can set their concerts at any time that is convenient for them. This means fans who want to see Cracker in live performances should expect a tour announcement to be released with not so much of a warning. Because of their experience and recognition as performances that travel extensively, there are good chances of seeing the Cracker concerts in 2023 or 2024.
