Culture Club to tour again in 2023 with a trip back to the 80s.
Starting from the end of spring, the venerable pop band Culture Club from the 1980s has announced a large global tour in 2023 The tour will be the first for the band members Boy George, Roy Hay, Mikey Craig, and Jon Moss in the US and the UK in the last fifteen years.
Fans of 1980s music should be ready for Culture Club to perform watershed hits from that period. Linked with new wave and pop genres, other prominent Culture Club successes include "Karma Chameleon," "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me," and "Time (Clock of the Heart." Over fifty million albums have been sold globally and the band boasts twelve Top Ten successes in America and the UK in their initial five-year career from 1981 to 1986.
Headlining Boy George stated in a statement, "We're so happy to bring the passion and timeless music of Culture Club back to our fantastic fans. People still find great resonance in the songs now as in the seventies.
In the early days, Boy George first came across Mikey Craig, the bassist, in 1981 and started the group known as Culture Club. These two recruited Roy Hay to finish the new wave band configuration and Jon Moss on the drums. The band joined with Virgin Records subsidiary Epic Records in 1982, after multiple tries to get a record contract.
MTV's running of the video for "Do You Want to Hurt Me?" helped Kissing to Be Clever's first full-length album start to become well-known. Downloaded over a million times, the song became a smash both domestically and abroad. The second single, "Time (Clock of the Heart)," which again performed well on the charts, came next. The Culture Club had officially arrived.
Over the following few years, the band rapidly ascended the charts of eighties musical stardom. Other songs on the next album Colour By Numbers, include "Church of the Poison Mind" and "Karma Chameleon," the latter of which spent three weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100.
Apart from their appealing, reggae-infused pop songs, audiences were equally captivated by their elegant, strong look, headed by Boy George. His long hair, caps, makeup, and colorful, androgynous clothes so became very important in the 1980s music scene.
Reunion and Hiatus After releasing their third studio album, From Luxury to Heartache, internal strife, and tensions arose in the band, and Culture Club broke up in 1986. Soon after that, Boy George launched a reasonably successful solo career.
In 1998, the classic foursome from those early eighties days reunited to record a new album titled Don’t Mind If I Do. They have also recorded together for a short time in early 2006. These reunions included random festival gigs and live shows, however, Culture Club didn’t regain their first mainstream success.
Now, in 2023, old and new fans have something to discuss and look forward to revisiting Culture Club’s back catalog of exciting retro pop.
The 2023 Tour and What Fans Will See The newly declared Culture Club 2023 concert tour will start on May 15 at a yet unknown venue on the East Coast. They will perform more than forty dates in North America and then return overseas for twenty more shows in the UK and Europe. Currently, it is planned to end on September 12 at the O2 Arena in London.
Culture Club is famous for its energetic performances on a stage filled with vibrant costumes, energetic movements, and of course – music. Audiences can expect to hear such hits as “Karma Chameleon” and “Do You Really Want to Hurt Me,” as well as other lesser-known tunes from the first few albums. It must be quite festive due to the frequency of this tour, which should bring back memories for anyone who has been to the country.
In promotion of the tour, guitarist Roy Hay added, “We just want everyone to have a fun, joyous time celebrating the songs they know and love from growing up with Culture Club. ”
It has not been stated if the tour will be accompanied by new songs from the band. Their final studio album of new material was 1999’s Don’t Mind If I Do. However, a tour representative mentioned that more announcements concerning any future singles or albums will be made in early 2023.

Signs indicate that Culture Club could make a comeback shortly. Music critics and fans who have been following Culture Club for many years have already been discussing the band’s new tour, which is scheduled for 2023. The impending concerts appear to be the bona fide get-together that this legendary band deserves. It might be felt that pop music aficionados of certain years have been lacking the vitality and cheekiness of having Boy George in the foreground of music for the last fifteen years.
If ticket sales are as strong as anticipated, don’t be shocked if Culture Club continues their reunion well into ’24 and possibly even releases an album. For now, audiences can only wait for a setlist packed with hit songs that’ll take them back to the 80s this spring and summer.
