Everclear is an American rock band that started in the year 1991 in Portland Oregon. The band was initiated by Art Alexakis and throughout the years has suffered from many changes of members, where Alexakis is the only permanent member of the group. Everclear is most famous for its radio-friendly music during the early to mid-'90s including “Santa Monica,” “Father of Mine,” and “Wonderful. ”
The band Everclear went on a short break in the middle of the 2000s but has since regrouped and started touring again in 2012. Ever since they started doing that, they have maintained their tradition of performing concert dates annually. There are still loyal fans who attend the band’s shows and listen to the music they produce. However, Everclear does not record as many albums now as they did earlier in the 1990s but they still have many songs that people want to hear live.
To the fans’ delight, Everclear usually performs their concerts with a setlist of songs that they have recorded in their entire music career. In the past few years, however, Everclear has built a good tour regimen. They always appear to be driving from one place to the other; it is like they are constantly on the move. From 2018 through 2019, the band performed 98 concerts in total, including clubs, theaters, casinos, and festivals. Among the shows, the band played during such festivals as the Beale Street Music Festival, Musikfest, and Iowa State Fair. They also performed on the 2017 Summerland Tour with other bands belonging to the same genre such as Live and Filter.
The COVID-19 outbreak in early 2020 affected Everclear’s plans as they had lined up another intensive touring year. They had to cancel a planned March-May tour of North America. It was not until restrictions began to ease that the band started securing more shows for the year and beyond. They already have more than 30 concert dates lined up till October 2021 across the United States of America.
On this upcoming tour, Everclear will play live in Texas, Michigan, New Jersey, California, Washington, Colorado, Illinois, and probably in some other states. The tour commences on July 29 in Austin, Texas, and ends on October 16 in Ventura, California. Fastball, The Nixons, and The Churchhill Garden are some of the bands that will be opening for Everclear.
For these shows, the audience will be treated to a setlist of songs that most fans are familiar with throughout the band’s discography. Songs such as “Father of Mine”, “I Will Buy You A New Life”, and “Santa Monica” are pretty much sure bets for each concert. Other songs such as “Everything To Everyone”, “Heartspark Dollarsign”, “Wonderful”, and “AM Radio” are also often switched between setlists. And one can always get lucky and find deeper album cuts or a new song on the radio.
This is especially great in live in that the band seems to be well-rehearsed, yet the energy of the fans fuels them. Lead singer Art Alexakis knows how to work with the crowd and get them to sing along in a very energetic manner. The rock songs that incorporate energy, passion, and volume are met with a lot of fan response, especially songs such as “Santa Monica”, “Heroin Girl”, and “I Will Buy You A New Life” which involve fist pumping. Alexakis excels during lows such as ‘Father of Mine’ the songs when the audience listens to every lyric.
Those people who are expecting to see Everclear perform should expect the band to perform for more than an hour. I’m sure there are going to be loads of classic 90’s alt-rock tracks that are going to transport fans back to a certain time. But the band also performs less frequent songs to change the setlist for any given concert. It’s always easy to find something for the general population to enjoy in a set list when you have more than 30 years of music to work with, as Everclear does.
This current tour looks set to reap big with old fans of Everclear as well as new fans. Their shows always feature the songs that people want to listen to. And the band has not lost its enthusiasm and dedication after years in the music industry.
