FKA Twigs reveals new concert dates
British singer and songwriter FKA Twigs has unveiled plans for a concert tour that will see her perform across North America and Europe in 2023. The tour, which will be dubbed as ‘The Volta Tour,’ will complement her third studio album that is expected to be released this year.
The tour begins in Miami, Florida on the 1st of February in the year 2023. She will perform twice at the Fillmore Miami Beach and then move on to Atlanta and Nashville. Having traversed the entire southern part of the USA, Twigs will be performing in Washington DC, New York, Toronto, and Boston before her first show in Paris on the 1st of March.
Some of the other European cities that are on the list include London, Amsterdam, Berlin, Milan, and Barcelona. She will perform two massive concerts at Eventim Apollo in London and a three-night stand in Salle Pleyel in Paris. After the performance across mainland Europe, FKA Twigs will then head back to America for a last tour across the western part of the country. These shows are scheduled in Denver, Phoenix, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, Vancouver, and other cities before the tour ends in Honolulu, Hawaii on April 22nd.
In a statement about the tour, FKA Twigs said: “I am eager to bring new music and this show to my audience, it has been quite a while and I feel the lack of interaction with the fans.
The electronic R&B artist has stated that this new album, which would be her third, outlines her trip to becoming healthy and musically centered again after undergoing surgery to remove six fibroid tumors from her uterus in late 2021. Songs such as ‘Killer’ and ‘Holy Terrain’ featuring Future that came out before the album are proof of her incorporating a darker, louder approach.
Of course, there are likely to be several new songs but one can also look forward to hearing some of the songs from her first two albums remixed and regenerated in some way. It was with the release of the 2014 EP “LP1” and the 2019 full-length “Magdalene” that FKA Twigs achieved broad critical success and carved out her hypnotic live persona. Her forthcoming live show for 2023 is expected to be even grander than the previous ones based on new costumes, dancers, and set pieces.
FKA Twigs took time off the scene to recover from injuries she sustained in an accident and to re-discover her love for music, the artist is set and ready to reclaim her position among the music elite. Since her debut in 2012 with the EP, she has worked independently and has been able to twist various styles and create an atmosphere, which is best described as dark and cinematic. Her off-stage relationships added unwanted drama in the past few years but the essence of Tahliah Barnett is and has always been the music.
Given how good her first few early hits are, FKA Twigs’ third album could be her best and might finally land her the mainstream success she deserves based on the acclaim she has received. But most importantly, it shall be a testimony of a bounce back to form of one of Britain’s most cherished musical assets. The clubs and theaters should be pulsating with mutual attraction every night as the ‘The Volta Tour’ begins after three challenging years for the artist as well as for her fans.
Even if it is only a few months away, more details regarding the tickets are yet to be released. However, fans are encouraged to follow FKA Twigs’ social media accounts and subscribe to her mailing list for the chance to be among the first to know. There is visible impetus for the upcoming run of shows, which will be her first full tour in three years.
