When Guns N' Roses Concert Tour?

Many Guns N’ Roses fans are waiting with bated breath for any information regarding a new tour.

Currently, it is more than five years since a legendary rock group, Guns N’ Roses, has gone on a tour. Their recent not in this Lifetime tour was from 2016- 2019, and it was one of the biggest tours in music history. It was the worldwide reunion tour by Guns N’ Roses with the members Axl Rose, Slash, and Duff McKagan and had a gross of over $560 worldwide making it one of the third highest-grossing concert tours of all time.

Fans have been waiting for the band to provide details on when their new tour is scheduled to start. Rumor has it that Guns N' Roses have been working on their new songs in the studio, thereby naturally suggesting a new tour. Since the release of Chinese Democracy in 2008, the band has not been able to create an album with fresh ideas. Released in 2004, Greatest Hits was their final album, a compilation.

In the music business, just the announcement of a fresh Guns N' Roses tour is major news. In the case of the Not in This Lifetime tour, the headlines in the entertainment press dominated weeks upon initial announcement in 2016. The extreme demand jammed booth satellite networks and ticketing websites as first-time tickets went on sale. The great reaction required the scheduling of additional events in most places.

There will be a lot of rushing around to grab the tickets I can tell you when the next tour is announced. Among the most well-known and identifiable rock bands worldwide still remains Guns N' Roses. Not in This Lifetime ranked fourth among all the tours in history on the Billboard Boxscore.

Axl Rose, Izzy Stradlin, Tracii Guns, Ole Beich, and Rob Gardner formed the initial line-up. This was not long; by 1985 the band had a classic Rose, Slash, McKagan, Steven Adler, drum, and Izzy Stradaline, rhythm guitar configuration. Through the then-popular MTV culture of the late 1980s music scene, this lineup helped the band achieve mainstream recognition and produced albums like G N’ R Lies and Appetite for Destruction.

The internal strife led to a change of leadership when Matt Sorum succeeded Adler. Stradlin's departure was said to be caused by creative disagreements. Featuring "You Could Be Mine," "Don't Cry," and "November Rain," a fresh batch of GN'R recorded the epic Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II albums. More anarchy followed, however, and by the late 1990s, Slash had also left GN'R, leaving Rose the lone guy remaining.

Rose brings Guns N' Roses back with a new lineup for their 2008 album Chinese Democracy. Recording all of the human, business, and creative challenges Rose encountered during that period took about a decade and a half and approximately 13 million dollars. When the band issued albums in the late 1980s and early 1990s, the record fell short of the degree of popularity it had previously attained.

During this period of inactivity, many fans considered the band to be a thing of the past. However, an ultimate reunion of Rose, Slash, and McKagan led to a mostly successful ‘Not in This Lifetime’ reunion tour. The question is whether they are still friends and whether there are enough incentives for them to make a new album or go on another huge arena and stadium tour.

However, if there is new Guns N’ Roses music and concert dates ahead then it will surely generate tremendous buzz among the hard rock enthusiasts. Guns N’ Roses met a certain need in the mainstream hard rock/metal community in the late '80s and early '90s as a dangerous band image and sound. They also enjoyed record sales among rock music fans of all subgenres and pop fans. Any new tour would probably make Gen X fans feel nostalgic, while possibly helping Millennial and Gen Z fans who stumble upon the band’s catalog for the first time, possibly enjoy it as well.

Other related topics that would likely receive a lot of attention when a new tour is proposed would include the venues and the possible setlists. Would Guns N’ Roses schedule another extensive multi-year stadium and arena tour as they did on the Not In This Lifetime tour? Or maybe, they may prefer taking shorter tours at more theaters and amphitheaters. What cities can be included? Would the smaller markets be integrated, or would only the larger metropolitan areas be considered?

Regarding the setlists, the fans would be curious about how many songs would be from the new album and how many hits would be played. Would there be changes in the set lists like in the past where some songs were performed frequently while others rarely or is there would be a fixed list of songs that can easily be toured? How many potential mega-hits such as ‘’Welcome To The Jungle’’ and ‘’Paradise City’’ are the proverbial shoo-ins? Would there be solo showcases for Duff McKagan and Slash like before?

As it has been said, even the mere rumors of the new tour of Guns N’ Roses would generate a plethora of discussions and debates among the band’s fans from all over the world. It’s notorious that Axl Rose is an unpredictable person and does not share too much information, therefore it is very unlikely that fans would be informed in advance even if the tour has been planned internally. Rose would most likely wait to make the announcement on his timeline when he wanted and not as others wanted him to.

For sure, fans of hard rock music around the globe are eagerly waiting for the day when the new tour of Guns N’ Roses is announced. It still has elite name recognition within the larger context of rock bands. Arguably, there are only a few bands that can fill stadiums and trend on social media like the Guns N’ Roses. As soon as the initial surprise, fans would instantly call for the earliest possible ticket availability. Even in today’s evolving music industry, demand would greatly exceed the supply once the pre-sales and public on-sales take place.

In the past, tours involving popular legacy bands such as Guns N’ Roses are always good for business. Only recently, bands such as Eagles and Billy Joel have embarked on extremely long residencies as well as concert tours to the satisfaction of the fans as well as critics. Other bands such as The Rolling Stones remain to release new dates for the No Filter Tour. Even if they are not putting out new songs that are quickly rising to the top of the charts, they have a classic collection of loved songs to perform to capacity crowds. The fan demographic is no different today than it was in Guns N’ Roses’ early years, and there is no reason to believe the band would stray from this path.

Not In This Lifetime tour proved all those skeptics who believed that the public had moved on from the classic rock bands of the past. It further cemented Guns N’ Rose's position as one of the biggest rock bands of all time. When Slash begins ripping out those signature guitar riffs and Axl Rose lets go of that infamous scream, fans will be more than happy to follow along. If they grab the opportunity, all signs suggest another successful stadium tour. As already pointed out, further details may be scarce today, but when they come out, then watch out! Once again the fans will go crazy over a new Guns N’ Roses tour.
