James Taylor Releases New Dates for Tour in 2023
The great singer and songwriter James Taylor has just released his concert calendar of events for the coming year 2023. The tour will see Taylor moving to and fro in North America as she performs in arenas, amphitheaters, and festivals across the continent, both the eastern and the western regions.
As for the name for the tour which is still to be announced, the tour will start at the TD Garden in Boston on the 19th of May with two consecutive nights. This appears to be fitting given Taylor’s background in Boston – he was born in Boston and went to school at Milton Academy in Massachusetts. Other shows scheduled for the New England area are in Hartford, Connecticut on May 24th and Bangor, Maine on June 14th.
In between the New England shows, Taylor plans to perform for several nights in some cities, including Cleveland, Ohio (June 2-3), Detroit, Michigan (June 6-7), Chicago, Illinois (June 13-14), Denver, Colorado (July 7-8), and Los Angeles (August 11-14). Some of the southern cities that travelers are likely to visit are Atlanta, Nashville, Houston as well as Dallas.
Apart from the solo Taylor concerts, several concerts will feature Taylor with friends and former band members. These performances will be with Jackson Browne in Philadelphia on July 27, New York on July 29-30, and Washington DC on August 1. His All-Star Band will be performing with Bonnie Raitt at Red Rocks Amphitheater near Denver on July 10 and at the New Orleans Jazz Fest on April 29.
This huge tour will see Taylor touring for four consecutive months from April up to August. Even for an artist that will be 75 years old in 2023, it is quite a busy year but Taylor justified his enthusiasm by saying that he is eager to get back to performing live.
“I think, that there is something about the live performance that makes us all human,” Taylor remarked. “Looking at my experience of using the app mostly during the lockdown, I realized how much I lack that feeling of togetherness that comes with listening to music together. ”
For the past few years, Taylor has mainly performed through co-headlining tours or festival shows. The last major solo concert series that he undertook across North America was in 2017 for his album ‘Before This World’. However, Taylor was quick to point out that he had no intention of putting out a new record before this trip.
“When we lost tour revenues during the lockdowns,” Taylor chuckled, “I realized that people are quite content just listening to the old songs. ” “When live music resumed the fans appeared delighted to belt out to the hits once more including Fire and Rain, Mexico, and How Sweet It Is. ”
Thus, fans will be able to enjoy all their favorites from Taylor’s discography which totals over fifty years of music. Probably, the setlists will include most of the hits from such albums as ‘Sweet Baby James,’ ‘Mud Slide Slim and the Blue Horizon,’ ‘JT’ and ‘Flag. ’ Songs such as Fire and Rain You’ve Got a Friend, Mexico and Shower the People are surefire hits.
However, the diehard audience is aware that Taylor loves to switch up the performance from one show to the other. Thus they can be given some interesting special guests - Jackson Browne in California or Bonnie Raitt in Colorado perhaps - and the songs that may appear during these 2023 concerts are quite rare.
Tickets for Taylor’s next tour will be available on January 27th through Ticketmaster. For most cities, pre-sales for Citi cardholders will open on January 23rd. There will also be VIP packages for each concert that will include things like better seats, food and drink before the show, and special merchandise.
Since Taylor is a pop icon and considered a legend most of her shows are expected to go up for sale and sell out as soon as tickets go active in the coming weeks of this month. Ticket prices will depend on the market but most seats should cost between $50 and $250. It means that select premium packages could cost even more.
Having sold over 100 million albums Taylor continues to be one of the most popular artists to watch in concert even to this date since she started making it big. These new tour dates will allow fans across North America to see one of the most influential singer-songwriters of all time perform a selection of his hits from the folk, country, and rock catalog.
This looks set to be yet another great year on the road for James Taylor. Close to seventy-five years of age, he still has that friendly disposition, and the great ability to play the guitar and sing; singing being his forte; all of which is captured in his live shows. Here are the other 2023 James Taylor tour dates for the year you should also look forward to getting tickets for this month before they are all out!
