It has been several months since Leon Bridges came through with any tour dates after he released his latest album gold-digging in June 2021.
Currently, Leon Bridges is supporting his most recent album Gold-Diggers Sound; he has embarked on a 2023 tour that will take him across North America and Europe. The ‘neo-soul’ Grammy award winner starts his live performances in the United States in January beginning with Atlanta, Nashville, Philadelphia, New York, Boston, and Toronto among other cities before moving to other parts of the world in March.
The Gold-Diggers Sound Tour will take Leon and his band through the United States and Canada through the whole of January and February. They will be performing at famous locations including Radio City Music Hall in New York, The Chicago Theatre, and so on. This means that fans will be treated to Leon’s classic retro flair of R&B tunes, complete with tracks from his three outstanding studio albums plus a few extra bonuses.
After the North American part in Vancouver on February 11, Leon will have a short break before performing the European part in March. He is expected to perform in cities such as Brussels, Amsterdam, Berlin, Paris, Manchester, and London, among others. The latter is held on the 1st of April at Roundhouse in Camden Town, London which is a very famous venue.
This is, actually, the first time the star gets a proper tour across the globe since the year 2019 when he toured promoting the JUNO Award-winning album Good Thing. Since then, he has released two more albums, so one can expect the artist to perform a mix of songs from all his works.
He had been gigging steadily since he broke through with his 2015 debut coming home, an album that originated in Texas. However, like most artists, his plans were disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. This time was spent recording new music, leading to the release of Gold-Diggers Sound in 2021.
The title of this album is derived from the Gold-Diggers bar/hotel and recording studio located in East Hollywood in which it was produced. Sonically, it features Leon expanding from vintage R&B to rich psychedelic soul backed by funk and jazz. They appreciated the change in his style.
The record went on to provide him with his first top 10 position on the Billboard 200 album chart. Other tracks such as ‘Motorbike,’ ‘Sweeter,’ and ‘Steam’ also broadened Leon’s audience. He enlisted the help of hip-hop artists J. Cole, 6lack, and Ink for a remix.
Leon, in interviews, has described how he felt refreshed after this invigorating album cycle. He had a short break from touring around mid-2022. But now the road calls the devoted artist again for the biggest tour in 2023.
Old fans can expect to listen to numerous songs from Leon’s discography, including some tracks that were released on his first EP, Coming Home, and Good Thing. Of course, there will be many tracks from Gold-Diggers Sound in the setlists as well. He also takes time to include a few surprises in his performances once in a while.
In this tour, Leon is set to visit many venues and cities he has played in the course of his previous tours. However, there are some grounds that he will be visiting for the first time in his career as well. So all the eagars audiences all around the world both old and new fans are in for a special show to watch Leon and his great band perform.
His transformation from the crooning rear-view mirror man of a retro-soul revival to a spectacular performer and a musician of many hats has been delightful. At 31 years of age and with three successful albums in the bag, the artistic career of Leon Bridges only looks up from here.
Make sure to catch Leon on his massive Gold-Diggers Sound Tour in 2023 as he steps foot in your city. However, do it as soon as you can because going by popular trends, most shows are likely to go off the market as soon as this celebrity is involved.
