Lizzo has recently come out to reveal that she will be performing in concerts again in 2023.
Following her most recent news album, The Special, and viral hit About Damn Time, Lizzo has booked a brand-new performance calendar for 2023. Beginning in February, the 34-year-old pop sensation will start her tour in Europe and then go to North America in April for the second half.
Lizzo is scheduled to conduct more than thirty events in Europe and North America under the continuous "The Special Tour." She will be playing in prominent cities like Toronto, New York, Los Angeles, Paris, and London. Two evenings at the esteemed Madison Square Garden in New York City also constitute part of the North American leg.
Lizzo expressed her excitement about the gigs on Twitter, saying "I can't wait to see my loves in Europe and North America! This trip will be unique. The psychological help. The affection support. CANNOT WAIT TO SEE YOU THERE!
It follows Lizzo's fourth studio album, "Special," which came out in July of this year. Reaching second place on the Billboard 200, this encouraging and motivating CD turned out to be her best-selling record at the time. Since then, Lizzo has been nominated for Album of the Year and Record of the Year multiple times at Grammy Awards.
The album’s opening track ‘About Damn Time’ also marked Lizzo’s second Hot 100 chart-topper, following her debut hit ‘Truth Hurts’ in 2019. Both songs embody Lizzo’s ability to craft catchy, fun, sing-a-long pop bangers about empowering yourself.
Nevertheless, Lizzo dreams of becoming a global pop star overnight in 2019 despite the fact that she has been seriously building her career for over a decade. She relocated to Minneapolis, Minnesota as a young rapper and singer in 2011 and started releasing several albums independently which showcased her voice and ability to leave encouraging messages in her songs.
Coconut Oil, an EP released in 2017, was her initial attempt towards chart success with ‘Good As Hell’ gradually trending on the internet. However, it was not until the third album Cuz I Love You released in 2019 that Lizzo became an international sensation. The album was an immediate success and critics’ darling; Lizzo received eight Grammy nods and the release solidified her niche.
Musically, Lizzo combines her signature pop choruses with elements of R&B, soul, and funk. Her voice has been described as strong and soulful, similar to the legendary singers Aretha Franklin and Chaka Khan. What has helped Lizzo build one of the most dedicated fanbases in music, however, is her technical skill, stage presence, and empowering lyrics.
In her live performances, Lizzo is famous for preaching the message of self-acceptance and self-celebration. Her concerts are more like a unity rally where everyone is encouraged to celebrate who they are. They are also packed with fragments that prove the singer was a very talented flute player.
The next 2023 tour promises to become one of the most grandiose performances of Lizzo. Recent live shows and television performances have included cameos from such iconic rappers as Missy Elliott, SZA and Cardi B In social networks people are already discussing who can appear in ‘The Special Tour’.
