When Neil Young Concert Tour Dates?

Neil Young is embarking on a concert tour in 2023.

Iconic musician Neil Young has released a list of concert tour dates for the year 2023. The versatile artist is set to tour in support of his latest album releases as well as a greatest hits set this year.

The newly announced concert tour Neil Young 2023 will begin in March with performances at venues on the East Coast of the USA. The first can be even called the ‘big cities’ tour, as it encompasses such destinations as Boston, New York, Philadelphia, and Washington, DC. All but four of the March shows will happen in venues where Young has frequently performed since the beginning of his career.

Following the East Coast trek, Neil Young and the talented Promise of the Real will perform across the Midwest and the South in April. Specific cities to be toured in April include Detroit, Nashville, Atlanta, and New Orleans. The primary support of Promise of the Real is Willie Nelson’s two sons, namely Lukas and Micah Nelson. And since Neil Young is known to give extra long shows, massive set lists filled with Neil Young favorites are a sure bet at each city.

Neil Young 2023 will be active in the western part of the USA and Canada during the early summer. May and June's performances include gigs in Seattle, Portland, Vancouver, Calgary, and many others. A rather interesting gig is Young’s show at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles after his 10-year absence. On the other hand, Canadian dates offer those who are in that part of the world a chance to witness the icon in action without having to step out of the country.

Even though further detailed information about the tour routing and ticket sales will be released in the course of the upcoming weeks and months, the revelation of the first Neil Young 2023 tour dates has already stirred the audience’s enthusiasm. This is because of ticketing mishaps that occurred in his recent Crazy Horse tour, fans will definitely go again crazy to secure their ticket.

In terms of what fans will be able to look forward to in the musical aspect of the film, Neil Young is spoilt for choice. Squeezing all the songs he must have produced or compiled into just a few hours in the night cannot be a small feat. Still, Young did try out several different setlists, songs, and creative unknown tracks during his solo theater run back in late 2022.

That would appear to mean everything from early acoustic gems, electric revolutions of songs that changed the course of the Library of Congress, ballads, explorations, out-of-the-blue obscurities, and new songs are all going to get dusty off and likely be played by Neil Young, and Promise of the Real in 2023. Songs that have been played before now, during Young’s recent performances are classics; “Heart of Gold,” “Old Man,” “Rockin in the Free World,” “Cinnamon Girl,” “Like a Hurricane” and “Down By the River” among others, alternating with some from Barn, 2021.

Aside from demonstrating recent material, 2023 does mark the 45th birthday of Neil Young’s 1978 Rust Never Sleeps album with Crazy Horse. So it would not come as a surprise if Young chooses to pull out some of those landmark songs like “Powderfinger”, “Welfare Mothers”, “Pocahontas”, and “Hey Hey, My My” at a few shows. Young is also continuing to work on his now near-mythical Homegrown album so actual tracks from those legendary mid-seventies sessions may also find their way into the mix.

In the aspect of production and staging, some of Neil Young’s concerts can have a sort of low-key and no-nonsense appeal. It is more often, though not always, about possessing primal energy and complex musical communication rather than the ability to put on a spectacular light show. Audiences can expect the reconstruction of old amplifiers to be placed on the backdrop of the stage and as for prompters and effects expect little more than Young’s always peculiar voice through a megaphone. And with the passionate and loose cannon energy of Promise of the Real in his corner, live jams are practically preordained.

Of course, with such an unpredictable artist as Neil Young, who can change his themes and tuning in a blink of an eye all the early assumptions and predictions regarding the choice of songs or possible guests could be easily upset in a blink of an eye as well. Therefore dedicated audiences do not remain surprised when it comes to any venture related to the innovative and rebellious mind behind this star.

But whatever may happen on stage when Neil Young and company get back on tour, one thing is for sure, fans across the world will witness fantastic passionate shows each night from one of the true giants of rock and roll. Neil Young has been providing music lovers with outrageously awesome, guitarists incinerating rock and roll for well over 50 years now. Taking into consideration that Young’s 77th birthday is just around the corner, his love for his art and the inspiration that he possesses could not be more endless.

So for Neil Young and Promise of the Real fans who just cannot get enough of the rough and road-worn feel of things, circle those dates when the full run is announced. The wait for more punches on the empire, raw punk rock, moving folk ballads, protest and protestant harmonies, anarchy is on. A new outstanding episode of Neil Young’s boundless musical story will be next year in 2023 for viewers enjoying the chance and pleasure of watching the legend rule the stage in all of North America again.
