Originally founded in Chicago, OK Go is an American rock band presently located in Los Angeles. Lead singer Damian Kulash plays guitar; Tim Nordwind plays bass guitar and vocals; Andy Ross plays guitar and keyboards and is also a vocalist; and Dan Konopka plays drums. The inventive music videos and explosive, amazing shows of OK Go are well-known.
Established in 1998, their first album came out four years later in 2002. Through the 2006 music video for "Here It Goes Again," which included rather amazing treadmills choreography, the band's mainstream fame arrived. Millions of people saw the video online, which also brought OK Go to the attention of people all over. The band has released three more studio albums since then and started tours in North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia.
Generally speaking, OK Go is known to travel for a much shorter duration than other bands on concert tours, particularly to promote recently launched albums. Although they are seldom seen playing in concerts, one can anticipate only the finest. For example, the American rock band OK Go's Hungry Ghosts traveled from October 2014 to August 2015, releasing a performance tour. They put up more than sixty performances across North America and Europe during this span.
Subsequently, they embarked on the Hungry Ghosts Tour in support of their 2016 album of the same name from October 2016 to June 2017. This involved having legs across the entire United Kingdom, Europe, and across the USA with major cities such as Washington DC, Philadelphia, Boston, Los Angeles, Portland, Seattle, and many more. Those who witnessed the Hungry Ghosts tour got to enjoy the dance moves and the videos included in the overall performance by the band.
Since 2017, OK Go has not done as much touring as they used to perform during the album’s promotion and release. This could be because the band members are involved in other projects apart from being in OK Go. But they embarked on a brief American tour in October 2018 and a European summer festival tour in August 2019.
In the live performances of the concerts and music festivals in the last five years, OK Go has not left their dancing skills and power pop music in between. Some most enjoyable songs at live performances are Here It Goes Again, Get Over It, Upside Down & Inside Out, Needing/Getting, The Writing’s On the Wall, and I Won’t Let You Down.
Concerning the future performances of OK Go, the band is not expected to have a very busy tour around the world in 2023. They performed in LA in November this year 2022 as a one-off concert. However, such a pattern of touring on a large scale may not be likely as the band OK Go has not released a complete album since 2014.
But for those who wish to see OK Go live this year, the best to do so would be to catch them in occasional shows. The most appropriate way is to track the band’s profiles on social media and subscribe to their website to receive notifications on any possible OK Go 2023 tour or a few shows.
It is assumed that when the band releases their sixth studio album in their so far career, widespread expectations are that OK Go will organize a large-scale concert tour across the world, as was the case during previous albums in the past two decades. However, for now, there has not been much activity as regards OK Go live performances and concert tours as the band members work on other projects.
On a positive note, OK Go is still a creative and performing band now even if they do not tour as much as they used to. When they do embark on a proper tour for a new album fans can surely look forward to an exciting live show, engaging both visually and aurally, from the much-awaited dance moves, acrobats, silly antics, skillful musicianship, and good vocals headed by Kulash. Of course, there will be many of the favorite hits along with new material if new songs and albums of OK Go appear.
Loyal fans of the band, whatever rare live performance they can snag – whether it is just one concert or their set at a music festival – is important for the passion with which the band performs. The general opinion of music concert enthusiasts and any other person who has seen OK Go in action is that the band has not lost its touch; it is still a unique live band that combines singing, dancing, and technology for an incredible show.
So while huge tours may not be in the works right now, that doesn’t mean that OK Go won’t randomly perform shows here and there. Visit their site and social media for chances to see the live performances that might be brought to festivals or some other events in 2023 and later. While this rather desperate and unambitious band can only find time to waste on creating complex choreographies every time they have the time for it, the OK Go concert spectacular will undoubtedly be here to give the viewers a show.
