Peter Noone is a lead singer of the 1960s British invasion band Herman’s Hermits and has been touring regularly for more than half of a century. As we have seen, Noone is 74 years of age but his energy and performances continue to rise, and this has thrilled his longtime fans and other new fans who are getting to know his work. Peter Noone and his backing band, known as Herman’s Hermits starring Peter Noone, performs approximately 100 concerts per year at various venues throughout the US and other countries.
Manchester, England was where Noone formed Herman’s Hermits in the year 1963 and this was at a time when Britain was crazy over the Beatles. ‘You’re Into Something Good’, ‘Mrs. Brown, You’ve Got A Lovely Daughter, and ‘I’m Henry VIII, I Am’ enabled them to gain stardom within a very short duration of their formation. Some of their hits fused pop and rock with vaudeville elements and the music hall sound of England. In just a few years of the sixties, Herman’s Hermits managed to sell over sixty million records and perform for the fans on worldwide tours.
Although the band was disbanded in 1971 when they stopped touring, Noone continued his concert tour of Herman’s Hermits’ songs to the fans for almost fifty years. Noone and his excellent group of musicians make it their goal to perform two-thirds of Herman’s Hermits songs and one-third of other popular songs of the sixties during concerts. And of course, there are favorites needed to make the fans happy such as ‘There’s a Kind of Hush,’ ‘Dandy,’ and ‘Can’t You Hear My Heartbeat. ’ The high energy concerts make one think that one has been transported to 1965 as Noone dances across the stage with a big smile on her face. Yet the sets aren’t just a stroll down memory lane – Noone actively communicates with the viewers, jokes, shares anecdotes, and changes the pace while still maintaining his Mancunian drawl.
Looking at the concert calendar for 2022, no one seems to be planning on taking it easy anytime soon. Following the start of the new year shows in Florida, Noone performed several shows in California. There were no summer shows in Noone’s schedule; instead, she performed at outdoor concerts in Ohio, upstate New York, and Massachusetts. Now in mid-October, Noone keeps grinding it out on the live music scene with more dates across the Midwest and the southern states through the end of the year. He’s already got dates for the 2023 tour listed on his website.
None of them still savor the concert experience after several years. During a recent interview, he said “I’m still having as much fun on stage as when this whole journey began, I get to make music, which is what I enjoy the most, and get to see old friends, It’s the best bonus that I could ever imagine. ” The fun he has is evident in the shows he does. A fan who saw him perform this year said, “He sings well, dances well, and seems to enjoy being on stage. His band is great also they are very talented. It was a great show through and through. "
