Phantogram is an electronic rock duo that originated in Greenwich, New York; its members are Josh Carter and Sarah Barthel. Since the release of their first album in 2007, Phantogram has steadily earned a fan base with the kind of sounds that fuse electronic, dream pop, trip-hop, and indie rock elements. With a moody and rich sound and Barthel’s smooth voice, they have released several albums and singles over the last ten years.
Following the release and subsequent supporting tour of their third studio album titled Three in the year 2016, Phantogram went on hiatus before the release of their well-received Ceremony record in the year 2021. The pair said that they found it hard to cope with the challenges such as stardom and touring which led to their break. But they appear to be raring to go and back on tour after being out of sight for more than two years.
When is Phantogram going to announce an official tour for the year 2023? Notably, it is common to produce an album every two to three years and based on discussions with insiders of the band’s team, a tour is expected soon. They have already been announced as the performers for several more music festivals during this summer such as Bonnaroo, Governors Ball, and Osheaga. Such festival bookings are typically made before a band embarks on a full-fledged headlining tour.
Furthermore, in several interviews, Barthel has stated that the duo has already started discussing the production and creative aspects of the forthcoming tour. The project was featured in an article for Consequence Sound wherein Barthel said, “We can’t wait to get back out on the road and perform Ceremony for people…”The live show is going to have a complete overhaul in terms of look and feel. ”
Traditionally Phantogram tours for six months in North America, then goes to Europe, Australia, and East Asia. The same pattern was observed in their past two album cycles. Three was released in October 2016 with a tour starting in March 2017 and ending in September 2017. Likewise, Ceremony was released in December 2021 and it is typical to expect a tour soon in Spring 2023.
Regarding routing and timing, fans can probably hope for an announcement in March/April 2023 of a North American headlining tour that will likely take place between late May and October. Teaterns kommer att variera från teatrar med cirka en publikkapacitet på 3000, upp till amfiteatrar med en publikkapacitet på 5000 under sommaren. Large cities that are capable of hosting several nightstands include Los Angeles, Chicago, Toronto Atlanta, and New York.
The songs will be mostly from Ceremony, but there will be some other hits like Down the Mountain, When I’m Small, You Don’t Get Me High Anymore, and Fall in Love. Opener bands have not been named but previous ones include Goldroom, Grandtheft, and Streets of Laredo.
The production will complement their music videos with film-like lighting and graphics to produce a cinematic experience. On previous tours, they have used intricate video walls in line with the music beats. Barthel also said he would have wanted to incorporate more acoustics in the set hopefully the audience would get to hear raw sessions of some songs.
Therefore, the high level of commitment and positive reception that Ceremony has received indicate that there will be strong demand when Phantogram finally reveals its next concert tour. Those who have been waiting for these new heady songs to be performed live would be smart to look out for concert schedules sometime early next year because tickets are going to move fast. Otherwise, listening to the studio recordings and performances at summer festivals will help excited for Phantogram’s concert performances.
