When Phoenix Concert Tour?

Phoenix is a French rock band originating from Versailles, France, that has garnered a dedicated international fan base after starting production in 1999. The band is made up of vocalist Thomas Mars, guitarists Laurent Brancowitz and Christian Mazzalai, and bassist Deck d’Arcy. Mainstream success came with Phoenix’s fourth studio album ‘Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix’ which was released in 2009 and was comprised of the hits; ‘Lisztomania’, ‘1901’, and ‘Too Young’. Since then, they have been one of the beloved bands for the festivals and are now being recognized as one of the most important indie bands of recent years.

Some Phoenix fans have been looking forward to the band’s concerts and tours in particular since the last performances in 2017. The band has not been very active in recent years, but they did put out an album called ‘Ti Amo’ in 2017. But only in January of 2022, the band shared the information that they would be going on a world tour in 2022 and 2023. Named the ‘Alpha Zulu’ tour about their seventh studio album due out soon, it will be the band’s first concert since 2017.

The Alpha Zulu tour is to begin in the North American region with the first show being on the 22nd of September, 2022 in Atlanta. They will be performing 16 headlining shows across the United States and Canada in various cities including New York, Los Angeles, Toronto, and Montreal, among others. The North American leg of the tour will be concluded on 27th October in Oakland. They will then tour Europe in November starting in Lisbon, Portugal, and travel throughout until March 2023. Some of the high spots on their European trek are Paris, London, Amsterdam, Berlin, Milan, and more.

After the first half of the tour, which ends in late May 2023, Phoenix will head to Australia and New Zealand before coming back to North America to play summer festivals. They are expecting to showcase their talents at Corona Capital, Lollapalooza, Osheaga, and Outside Lands shows. As of now, the Alpha Zulu tour is expected to end on August 13th, 2023 with a performance at the San Francisco Outside Lands festival.

Packed with a variety of Phoenix’s hit songs from their discography, the fans can also anticipate new compositions from their forthcoming album ‘Alpha Zulu’ which is out on November 4th, 2022. Of course, the usual suspects such as ‘If I Ever Feel Better’, ‘Trying to be Cool’, ‘Entertainment’, and ‘1901’ are included. It also means that a band can play songs that are not frequently played or not frequently requested. Phoenix is reportedly to switch from one set list to the other depending on the number of shows to be performed, therefore, the different shows may have different songs.

The versatile French group has toured around the world several times over, famed for their high-octane live performances led by Thomas Mars’ stage-bound jitters and the band’s sophisticated pop-rock melodies. Although, and this is even more significant, it has been a few years since they have performed on a stage. Their musicianship and skill as live performers probably have become even better with time. It is only reasonable for fans to expect Phoenix to sophisticate their productions and arrangements as part of the Alpha Zulu tour.

As of now, opening bands have been booked for most of them, but sometimes touring bands or friends may join in a band or open for another band as well. Before, Phoenix invited bands such as The Strokes, DIIV, Glass Candy, and Tycho. Openers will depend on the region but should feature other respected indie acts that complement the headliner’s lush, vibrant sound.

Based on the lengthy time taken in the recording of their new album and preparation of the tour, Phoenix’s fan base is eager for the Alpha Zulu tour that is expected to start this Fall. The European festival-circuit heroes have paved their space in the musical sphere with unyielding indie pop hooks and Mars’ captivating stage presence. Phoenix fans have learned not to be surprised by anything from the quartet throughout their 20 years of existence – and this next phase should not be an exception. Whether a fan of Phoenix since the band’s early days or a casual listener who is intrigued by the synthy alt-pop of their latest album, the Alpha Zulu tour is a great chance to witness Phoenix in concert.
