Rob Thomas of Matchbox Twenty fame is gearing up for the release of his fourth solo album and in support of this, he has planned a gigantic headlining North American tour. The 37-show tour begins in Red Bank, New Jersey on July 11 and concludes in Los Angeles at the famous Hollywood Bowl on September 28.
This is the upcoming tour Thomas’s first extensive run of headlining shows in North America since the Chip Tooth Tour, which he did in 2018. Audiences can look forward to Thomas singing songs from his new album, as well as his solo tracks: Lonely No More, This Is How a Heart Breaks, and Streetcorner Symphony along with Matchbox Twenty staples such as Push, 3 AM, If You’re Gone and Bent. The setlist will appeal to the fans who have been eager for the release for ages as well as those who might be randomly stumbling on the video.
Thomas will also be headlining other shows this summer apart from the newly announced venues; he will be performing at the BottleRock in Napa, California; Firefly Festival in Dover, Delaware; and the Santa Barbara Bowl in Santa Barbara. These are shows apart from his own concerts and thus festival goers will get even more opportunities to see how energetic Thomas is and how well he sings live this year.
Furthermore, when questioned about the fact that he is finally able to get back on tour this summer Thomas responded, “I am beyond excited to get back out on the road and meet some of the most amazing fans out there. It has been far too long and I have so much new material that I am itching to perform live for everyone. I have a good feeling that we are going to have so much fun and make up for lost time!”
Support will come from special guest Abby Anderson for all of the headlining shows. The young country artist is an accomplished songwriter whose lyrics speak about her personal experiences; she is also a talented singer with a powerful voice, which will serve as a perfect opening act each night. Anderson came into the limelight in 2019 with the release of her EP “I’m Good” and has been steadily rising in popularity. It is also good for the up-and-coming talented 27-year-old performer to get an opening slot on tour with such a veteran artist as Rob Thomas to tap into a much bigger audience.
