Robert Earl Keen confirms a new concert schedule for 2023.
Texas country music star Robert Earl Keen has revealed the dates of his farewell tour, scheduled for 2023. Fans who have been with the singer-songwriter from the start have appreciated his announcement of the tour's dates last week.
Starting on January 18, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the tour is scheduled to last many months with visits and performances throughout the nation. Unlike an arena event, Keen will be traveling to venues like theatres and festivals, allowing the spectators to get a closer perspective of a show. On the present tour, there are more than thirty dates; however, the count may be raised.
Among the tour highlights are Nashville, Kansas City, Minneapolis, Chicago, Boston, Seattle, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. Naturally, Keen will also be touring his native Texas among other places. On the calendar are Austin, Dallas, Houston, Lubbock, and Abilene among Texas cities.
This tour is important as Keen said his concert tour in 2021 would be his final one. But the epidemic destroyed most of those preparations, therefore Keen was unable to go on the desired trip. After more than four decades in the industry, this 2023 tour will be another chance to provide the send-off the legendary artist deserves.
One can hardly blame Keen for wishing to retire from touring, however, aged 66 and considering he has 20 studio albums under credit. Still, his many supporters, who more or less refer to him as "the Fam-O-lee," do not appear willing to let him off the stage just yet. From the early 1980s, when he first emerged in Texas with Lyle Lovett, his loyalty and exceptional songwriting skills have made him renowned among country enthusiasts.
Currently, Keen has released many songs in his repertoire, which touches different music genre and various issues. He is famous for the stories of peculiar characters: The Road Goes On Forever, Dreadful Selfish Crime, Feelin’ Good Again, I’m Comin’ Home, and Farm Fresh Onions, to name only a few; Nevertheless, one should expect to hear his most popular songs on this tour.
Of course, his audience expects him to perform songs from the latest album, I’m Comin’ Home released in 2021. Thus, even though the name of the album and the tour imply that retirement is approaching, one can still expect that Keen will continue to write more songs and perform live concerts in the upcoming years. But as for the traveling shows, this 2023 tour may be the last opportunity to see the true showman on stage.
Tickets for the tour are going on sale for several dates starting this Friday, December 2. Meanwhile, any remaining tickets will be available to the general public from Friday, December 9th. Tickets are fairly priced beginning with $35 for lawn seating to $100 or more for premium reserved seating. Since Keen is still popular among country music lovers, dates should go on sale and get sold out as soon as possible once they are out in the coming week.
In anticipation of what is being billed as his farewell tour, Robert Earl Keen asks fans to support him one last time: “Everyone at country music festivals across the country has welcomed me with open arms, and I can’t wait to go out with a bang on our final tour! Come out and see us one more time! Let’s create more amazing memories together!”
Based on his stunning portfolio and efficiency in communicating with the audience through extraordinary songs, that is precisely what Keen will do in 2023 – perform a series of concerts filled with memories that will last a lifetime. It would be a shame to lose the opportunity to see one of the true legends of the country music genre riding off into the sunset one last time so grab your Robert Earl Keen 2023 event tickets today.
