Travis Kelce watches Harry Styles’ Eras Tour concert in Los Angeles.
As Harry Eras continued, performing at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles on January 27th, 2023, NFL Travis Kelce attended the show and cheered enthusiastically for Styles. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end saw it wise to catch the much-anticipated show during the brief break the NFL season offered.
Despite their reputation as an all-pro center for the Chiefs who won Super Bowl LIV and also the holder of many NFL records, Kelce is an obvious follower of Styles. The Eras tour has been acclaimed for the over-the-top staging and Styles’ energetic stage presence. Currently, Styles is one of the most sought-after musical artists globally, and his concerts are usually packed in arenas. With Kelce MIA for about two weeks as his team entered the offseason, it seems he took advantage of his free time to attend one of 2023 biggest concerts.
Kelce was captured in the front area in front of the new stage, joyfully singing and dancing to songs such as As It Was, Matilda, Boyfriends, and Treat People With Kindness. People who testified said that he seemed immersed in the concert as a Styles fan with no hint of VIP treatment. It was not some PR-friendly publicity stunt, it was Travis Kelce the fan dancing to a live performance of one of his favorite artists.
Even though Kelce has always been branded as funloving and a gregarious personality in his career path, he has only been seen once at top concerts. He has, nevertheless, displayed a plain man demeanor in the past which was seen as guzzling cheap beer with the fans during Kansas City Chiefs championship celebrations. His attendance at the soldout Harry Styles concert proved that the star tight end is not shy of rocking jeans and losing himself in the crowd.
At first glance, you had to think he was thoroughly enjoying the spectacle put on by Styles, from the neon-lit stage to the multiple costume changes. Similar to the other fans, Kelce could be seen singing and even dancing to some popular radio songs such as Watermelon Sugar as well as some of the popular songs of the Harry Styles and One Direction band such as Adore You and Sign of the Times respectively.
The Eras tour seems to be the biggest and most daring stage performance that Styles has embarked on so far. It must say that as a football player, used to performing in the behemoth NFL stadiums, Kelce doesn’t get easily wowed when it comes to over-the-top shenanigans. Nonetheless, if enthusiasm level is any evidence, even, Styles’ concert production and song list left him surprised. It had multiple platforms, a ramp to the audience, the guest artist, the music mix-up, and other dramatic performances designed to enchant viewers.
For the record, Travis, whose sister is Kay Kelce, a popular entertainment reporter, is a man who is well-connected in the industry most of the fans can only dream of. However, instead of using that access to get backstage passes and meet Harry during his concert, he decided to be a true fan. Less than a year into the band’s existence, Styles’ attendance is a testament to just how popular the band has become around the world at this time.
Even though Kelce is often shy and stays out of the public eye during the offseason, he could not help but use his free time to see Styles perform live. Combined with the fans’ screams, Kelce looked like an ordinary admirer of Styles’ earworm music and energetic performance. Instead of being an elaborate PR event, this merely appeared to be proof that even seven-figure-earning professional sportsmen can succumb to unabashed fanboyism.
For Travis Kelce the player, the brief intermission at that will end almost as soon as training for the 2023 starts. Kansas City will be looking forward to having its record-setting tight end back in the field as they strive to get back to the Super Bowl next season. But for one night, Travis Kelce the fan boy was able to go wild and sing Love On Tour with thousands of elated Harry Styles stans. By the look of delight on his face, he must have thought it a concert that was worth attending.
Given Styles’ is still on the rise, it is improbable that he will not encounter other famous fans in the future, like Travis Kelce. But the Chiefs tight end can always say he was there in 2023, caught up in the fandom and magic when Harry Styles performed his fantastic Eras tour in Los Angeles. But for artists who are appealing to people of all ages, like Styles, that certain extra something makes them a true icon for the next generations.
